Drivers side door switch will not work at times, the lights on can not lock car and doom lights will not go off

  • Anonymous Mar 12, 2019

That answer would be more helpful if you told us WHERE the switch is. My dome light would go off when I slammed the driver's side door again, but last night it would not. I would like to spray some WD-40 on the light switch inside the door but can't find out, even on Google, where the heck it is! (PS: I am a woman.)

Go to your local parts store and buy a can of PB BLASTER lubricant then open each door and spray the latch assembley really good then close and open the door 10 to 15 times. do this with each door. the door ajar light switch is located in the door latch assembley and cannot be seen so soak the latch assembleys really good so lube reaches the switch. these switches sometimes get stuck but this usually frees up the switch

A door switch is out of adjustment or broken.  Test which one by opening each door or hatch and pushing the switch in by hand.

Base 2009 Pontiac Vibe hatch started closing incompletely unless I slammed it, then incompletely when I did slam it, now won't shut at all.

You will be needing to find a helpful body shop and ask them to either adjust your hinges and latches, or, replace parts that are broken.
God bless your efforts.

2003 Ford Excursion interior lights stay on after truck is turned off for 20 to 30 minutes, and door ajar light is always onbut all doors are closed.

One of the door switches is not showing an open contact. Which sugnals the computer that a door is ajar. Try blowunyg comoressed air into every door sqitch including the rear hatch. Afterwards, spray each switch with WD-40. Good Luck.

How do i slove my door ajar problem

Try spraying wd40 into each door latch. Do it one at a time then open and close the door about a dozen times spray some more in there after about 6 open and closes. Do this with each door and even the hatch. This should clear ya right up.

The door ajar light won't go off even tho all doors are closed

Hi there...this might be helpful. In each door frame of the passenger compartment, there are switches that activate/deactivate the door ajar/interior light when the doors open and close. Try spraying wd-40 type lubricant on them, use your finger to work the switch. Hope this helps.

I have a 1998 ford ranger and the door adjar wont turn off and the dome light stays on after i exit the truck.

make sure the seatbelt isn't getting caught in the door jam when you close the door, it could be enough to keep the door slightly ajar or.............. when you slam the door it's possible that another door/hatch could be popping open slighlty if the latch on that door is not 100% holding tight so check each one....good luck

Interior Light sometimes will not shut off in Ford Ranger Pick up

If I am not mistaken, the plunger is located in the door with the latch. Most of the time you can just pull the door panel off and adjust the switch. After opening and closing the door, they get knocked out of adjustment. I sincerely hope that this helped you. Take care and best wishes.

2003 Explorer door ajar light stay on when all doors are closed

I had this problem on my 2003 explorer and took WD40 and gave the lock mechanism a good dose where it meets the clasp on the door jam. Then open and close the doors a couple of times to get them working. They get gummed up and sometimes have a tendency to stick.
