I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 club cab with the 360 Magnum engine. Under stress of pulling a trailer the engine nozzle lags and uses oil. I have been told that the gasket on the throttle body needs to be replaced. The engine has 108,000 miles. Is this the real problem and how much of task is to to replace the throttle body gasket?

How do I get rid of the lagging from the electronic throttle. The idling is also not stable either. As soon as you want to pull away from standstill there is a lag before the engine responds.

I do know these are good for sucking in the gasket for the pan on the bottom of the intake and causing spark knock and oil consumption but not a throttle body gasket.

1997 dodge ram 3500, it shudders in OD

Hey, I also have a 98 ram with the cummins and what you are talking about is when you are pullin hard in overdrive the trans is working to hard causing the shudder, when this happens back off the throttle and get back on the throttle to allow the trans to downshift. If you dont it will break the overdrive gear. There is nothing wrong with the trans it is just that it is shifting to early and bogging down causing the shudder.

My valves are ticking on my 97 doge 2500 pick up it has the 360 magnum can i adjust them or not .....

Ticking sound is normal from a health diesel engine is normal.

Diesel engine that does a lot of towing or carry large payload can use a head adjustment every 2 years or 24,000 miles.

I would keep tabs on the valve cover for oil leak.

Take it in the shop when the valve cover start to leak.

Do the valve adjustment, the valve cover and oil change at the same time.

Shell ROTELLA T Multigrade SAE 15W-40 is my prefer motor oil.
