Question about Cars & Trucks
Hi I have 2008 Chevy aveo LT it has air bag light on the code is B1378 the computer showing the left driver side something deployed but the air bag and ever thing else is in great conditions so I just want to know how to clear this code thanks
We just had the same code on an 08 Aveo we had just repaired. After running the diag on the scanner, we unplugged and replugged the driver seat airbag module and this cleared the code. Turned out something was spilled under the seat and messed with the connections in the plug.

You could clear the code with a scanner, but its possible the sensor for the driver side bag is faulty.

You need access to VagCom (the diagnostic software from VW and Audi). You can download it free at www.ross-tech.com, and buy the interface cable for your laptop on eBay for about $20. Or you can pay an hour's labor at a VW/Audi dealer to have them turn off the light.
What probably happened is similar to what happened in my 99 Audi A4. I have side airbags in the seats, and if the front seats are moved all the way back for any reason, it puts tension on the yellow airbag connector under the seat. That pulls it out just enough to open the contact and trip an airbag failure light. What I did was zip-tie the connector tightly (be very careful of the wires, as they're small and you don't want to pinch them), then use VagCom to turn off the light. Using the software is the only way to turn the light off - no ignition cycling or drive cycles, or number of miles driven, nor a battery disconnect, can reset the light.
Use VagCom to find out which airbag is giving you trouble, zip-tie its connector, and have the light turned off. Then you're set.

First of all you need to get this problem fixed ASAP. While the airbag light is illuminated, your SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module aka: the brain of your airbag system) shuts of power to the airbags. In which, if you are in an accident your airbags will not deploy while this light is illuminated. You need to take your vehicle to a GM dealership. A Tech 2 scantool is needed to retrieve the code from the SDM. Hopefully it won't be a costly repair, but is something that defineatly needs to be corrected soon. Good luck and hope all works well.
