2007 VW Jetta, A/C fan under the hood running non stop

Anytime I turn on my A/C the fan under the hood kicks in loud and runs the whole time. When I stop and turn off the car it turns off within 30 secs. I have read this is normal, but my question is last summer it never was this loud, so did something fail and blow and now its speed and sound is faster and louder? Is there a small fan that normally does it and it's stopped so the larger one has taken over? I just don't want to be hurting something while driving around with A/C on.... Bare with me, not very mechanic smart.... HELP!

SOURCE: severe engine clunking after oil change

Appearently Mr Lube is either going to end up fixing your car. I dont know what could have happend other than maybe they put the wrong type of oil back in it. I would definately get ahold of some of the higher ups at Mr Lube and "Ensure" they put your car back the way it was when it arrived there. There is no purely coincidence about it. They were the last ones to touch it. They will be the first ones to fix it. Make sure you are very firm with them, and keep track of names/dates/events as this important if you need to consult an attorney because of their negligence. Hope this gives you some direction, Thanks for using FixYa!

SOURCE: Radiator fan stayed on and drained the battery, why?

I would venture to guess that, based on past experience, that the problem is more likely to be the thermo-switch in the radiator. Find what looks like a large plug in the lower part of the radiator it will have two electrical jacks. If you test this with a meter and there is continuity when cold, there lies the problem. If not then i would suspect a fused relay (pricier to buy). You would find it located just above the fuses... Hope this helps...;-)

SOURCE: Rhythmic noise on passenger side of dash.

It sounds like you have an hvac actuator problem. It could be the recirculate actuator either way the system should be scanned and after replacement it has to be calibrated.

SOURCE: Why does my 91 VW Jetta stall out and lose power while driving?

I had a similar problem and the mechanic diagnosed it as a problem with the ignition coil. So you might want to get that checked.

2004 vw jetta is over heating. already checked thermostat and sensors. any suggestions? 2.0 engine

Is the fan kicking on? Radiator fan! When engine gets hot, radiator fan should kick on under the hood.
If it does, then there is a blockage in the radiator preventing it from circulating the coolant to dump the heat. Get a Rad flush.

If the fan does not kick on, then check the fan fuse and relays, usually found in an electrical distribution box under the hood. Consult your owners manual for its location and specific fuses / relays.
Possible bad fan too.. but disconnect the fan at the plug in the wiring, and test supply wire for voltage, when engine is above normal temperture.

It's possible that your cooling fan on the front of the engine is going or gone bad it has a clucth on it that can sieze up and cause this problem it can also cause a slight vibration at higher RPM's .Open the hood with the engine off and try to spin the engines fan by hand if it turn hard its bad aloso try to wiggle the fan forward and back if their is play in the clutch bearing it's bad.

Fuel Filter

Hi there. An alternative fuel filter for your Jetta is a Mann Filter. In fact, Mann might even be the OEM for Volkswagen anyway. You don’t need the VW part number, all you need to provide are your vehicle details – Make, Model, Yr and VIN. Simply do a search on the internet for Mann Filters and you will see many suppliers. Regarding the cooling fan operation, the cooling fan should only ‘kick-in’ when the engine coolant temperature has reach a predetermined level - the fan should not be working all the time. It’s likely that the coolant temperature sensor for the fan is faulty and so you should have a suitably competent vehicle technician identify the problem area. Hope this helps, Scottech.

Sounds like your fan relay may be bad. There should be a power control center underneath the hood. Locations of the relays should be underneath the cover. You can take the relay to an auto parts store and they should be able to check it. If not. the relays should be about 6-12 $
