I know it makes no sense but the reg low beam lights that always would come when the car started now don't work until day light comes on and then the DRL turns them on.. lol.. Long beam works fine, brake & reverse light works fine, in fact even the short beam bulbs are fine because I believe the DRL sys uses the same headlight bulbs. I JUST CAN'T TURN ON MY LIGHTS AS LONG IT IS DARK. Please suggest something because I have run out of ideas. Thanks for all your help, I can really use it.... :) PS. I leave for work 1 HR+ before daylight, so this is creating a huge problem.... thanks again :)

Check your DRL relay that is located in the fuse box. Also check the connector under the battery box for corrosion. (Not a smart place to put a connector) GM really messed up with the wiring on the 98-00 cavaliers headlights.

Start by setting your auto headlight switch to off if this solves it replace your headlight switch If your car is equipped with daytime running lights there could be a short bridging them with your auto head lights look for broken or frayed wires do this also if you have installed or had someone install an aftermarket stereo or speakers/sub woofer, amplifier. Good Luck with this
