Does it seem to do it more once it runs for a bit? It could be a bad DIS module. They are known to fail once they get hot. Either that or the ignition switch located at the top of the base of the column.

The light is in test mode when you start, so you can check the bulb is working. The light has nothing to do with whether you stall it only estimates whether you need a service based on time, number of starts (and probably some other parameters - perhaps someone else knows what they are).

Check the ECM part number. If it is a 1228253 that is your problem. get a 16198264 the other number does just what your car is doing. I worked at a Buick dealer and know about the problematic 1228253 ecm.

What you need to do is when it stalls out then check to see if your loosing fuel or spark.Check for spark at the spark plugs.don`t just check one.Check all the front 3 a least.If no spark then you probably have a bad ignition module.It is under the coils.Good luck.

you might want to chk. the crank sensor and or cam sensor. sounds more to me that it could be fuel problem. chk. fuel pressure. pump could be on its way out. don't be fooled by hearing the pump running as they sound like they are pumping but there not, at least not enought pressure to keep it running. pressure should be around 50 p.s.i.

if car is not over heating i would not wory about it, but if you are woryed about it this is what you can do. open hood and take off the neg. battery cable and leve off for about a minute or two. this will erase any codes that are stored in the computer. after you waited the minute or two reconect the cable and start the car it may stall a couple of times but should run allright after that, the computer has to reset all the sensors. just drive car if light comes on take it and have it scaned then you know if you got a proplem or not. good luck.

The 1st thing to do is have a trouble code retrieval test run to see what is making the check engine light come, this is the source of the problem.
