Question about 2003 Toyota RAV4

1 Answer

PO325 code The solenoid has been replaced, I have had the CMU worked on and a new CMU also. My question is ...If the new solenoid went bad again for who knows what reason can the computer still be reading it. The vehicle shifts into 4th gear once after being started, but if you come to a stop it will not shift into 4th again (unless you turn the vehicle off and restart it) then it shifts again. We have been having trouble with this vehicle since we bought it from a private owner in May. Thanks

2004 aztek wont start

If it comes to having to buy a starter, I'd recommend a new starter over a used one.

As for the *click* then nothing that's been happening... if the battery is bad, you would hear a *tick-tick-tick-tick-tick* sound. That's the starter solenoid magnetizing and hitting the starter connection. If you hear just one single *click*, I'm guessing you either have a bad starter or a bad connection.

I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback. The shift lock solenoid went bad and I ciuldnt get out if park, but it seemed to be related to the tail lights going out first. We had it replaced and then it broke...

The shift lock is powered through the brake switch, which is located on the brake pedal under the dash near the firewall. In order to shift out of Park, the brake pedal must be depressed, closing the circuit to the shift solenoid AND the brake lights through the brake relay. I'd suggest replacing the brake switch.

Starter solenoid on 1993 Ford E350 nwith 7.5 liter v8. Solenoid went bad, new auto parts store replacement, doesn't work right. When I turn the key to first click, the starter engages and the solenoid...

It sounds like the small tickler wires may be reversed to the Solenoid.

If no success, call Itasca and ask if there were any changes for this Solenoid. There are several types of Solenoid with the grounding being the major internal difference. Most likely your wires are switched.

1988 460 motorhome starting problem

When its hooked up, you should be able to put 12 volts on the little stud on the solenoid and it should start. One large stud will have 12 volts on it, so just jump it right there. Did you get the wires in the right place. The solenoid should have 1 large wire going down to the starter. Be sure the battery cables are clean and tight ( both ends) Check battery voltage when cranking, should go to 10-11 volts. Check voltage between negative terminal on battery and engine, should be ZERO when cranking. The solenoid has 2 large studs, make sure the battery positive wire and all the other wires are hooked to this stud, the other large stud should just have the wire going to the starter.

Sounds like you have a bad starter solenoid. Replace JUST the solenoid...save money....that'll fix your problem.....unless you just want to replace the whole starter assembly!
