I just opened the hood on a 97 C280, I have no pics or video because it's done now really simple, follow closely, first pry one side of the up far enough to see 2 10mm bolts on the radiator upper support, loosing the back one first, then in the middle of the condenser fan there is a 10mm bolt facing downward, you'll need a 1/4 drive rachet and 10mm socket for this, loosing that bolt as far as you can, use a 10mm wrench to finish if need be (also use the same wrech for the part), pry up the other side taking the screws a loose you took from the previous side, the hood is now open, you'll have to pull the cable from the firewall to get the slack you need to raise it higher, this will work

SOURCE: hood release latch is broken

find the cable that is supposed to attach to the latch, and grab it with a pair of pliers or the like and pull.

SOURCE: My hood latch is broken

If the cable link to the latch is rusty or broken you have to take the front grid down. It's relatively easy. It's held there by plastic fasteners. Then reach for the latch with you hand, or the leftover broken cable. Pull it, it should release the first latch, than you just have to get to the security latch, like you usually do to open the hood.

SOURCE: Broken Hood Release

Hello There

In short no there isn't, however it's most likely your plastic release lever is broken and not the metal cable, you need to open the cover over the release lever, there will be a cable you can pull using a gripper and it will release the bonnet, you can easily replace the plastic llever and it's reletively cheap.

Hope this helps, please don't forget to rate me.

How to change a headlamp in a mercedes benz c280

When changing a headlamp in a mercedes benz c280 1995. Lift the hood latch on the inside of the car. This is located under the driver side of the car. Release the hoodlatch in the front. Open the hood and behind the headlamp (left or right), Remove the two clamps that hold the back cover onto the light. After this cover is removed, behind the headlight there is a wire behind the light that hold the light in. Squeeze the two wires together and pull them back. This will release the light. Remove the light from the socket. Place the new bulb in the socket. Remember not to touch the bulb with your fingers, this could cause the bulb to break if it gets the oil from your fingers onto the bulb. Once the bulb is replaced, put the wire back in place and replace the back cover of the light.

Yes but you must remove the rear seat back and cushion to crawl through or power up the system from under the hood at the jumper cable hook ups.

The hood release cable on my 1991 Mercedes Benz 190e is broken. Is there any way to release the hood manually ?

the only other way to open the hood is to go through the front grill (not easy) by removing it or try lying under the front of the car and reach up with a long screwdriver or pry bar and try to trip the latch where the broken cable is-the best and fastest way to fix this though is to get the car to a good body shop.

Where is the latch for opening the hood ?

The red release latch is down under the dash on the extreme left hand side. A release tongue should stick out from the radiator grill when the latch is opened. Pulling on this tongue will release the hood When you open the hood the angle is initially restricted to about 45 degrees which is fine for minor jobs. If you need extra room, the left hand hinge has a latch pin which can be swung inwards to allow the hood to move up to about 50 degrees. Releasing the second latch pin on the right hand hinge allows the hood to go vertical. You will have to release the left hand hinge latch pin to close the hood.

190d hood can`t open!

Look at the little opening just to the left and down a little from the Mercedes emblem on the grille.  There used to be a latch there.  If the latch is missing, you can run a wire through the opening and attach to the hood release mechanism so that you can pull it to open the hood (that is of course after you pull the hood release which is located under the dash on driver side left.
