There are four vacuum lines connected at the transfer case one goes to the intake manifold and two go to the front rear shift motor but the fourth one is not connected to anything it ends in the engine compartment by the battery

Sorry, but my solution would be to take that drive back to the dealership, if he has a warranty. This is a hands on type deal, you have to trace everthing with your hands. Now it sounds to me like it could be in the electronics. You have to go to the differential, find the vaccum lines, if equipped, some are not, then trace them back to the motor and make sure they aren't cracked or broken. If it's attached to the diff housing and not to the box on the r/f axle (if you have one) it is a vent hose. Just secure it anywhere out of the way on the firewall. Don't pull it tight or when the axle moves it will fall off again!

Also I
have a GC, 1993, and I noted that besides maintaining a vent hose that
is not going anywhere, just this subject with a ribbon next to the front
suspension.
