Getting a squeaking noise coming from under the vehicle while moving. The noise increases with speed and gives a sound like light metal hitting during every rotation. Squeak does not apear to be comming from the brakes or front end, but more from the center line of the
vehicle near the transmission and or drive shafts. Have walked along side of vehicle and can't hear squeak in the front but underneath. This is an 8cyl. 4x4, 1999, Durango.

It's your universal joints. Your universal joints have become warn and what's happening is as you accelerate its moving and the loose universal joints are moving which is causing the noise. It occurs at low speeds because of a slight wobble as speed increases the wobble goes away and so does the noise. It's best to change the font and back at the same time you can find them at your local part store starting at $19.99 each. As for your front end lubricate it real good. Hope this was helpful.
squeaking noise sounds as though everything got replaced how about the transmission crossmember rubber mounts sometimes after a motor swap these get shifted into a binding posision Look at it if it's all twisted and not proportional in size yep it got moved
That all depends on when and where it squeaks. If it starts squeaking as soon as you start it there is a good chance that you have either a bad belt or a bad pulley. If it squeaks only when the vehicle is moving then there is a good chance you have a wheel bearing going out. I hope this helps you out, and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.
Thank you for getting back to me. I would like you to check your transmission fluid. start the engine and let it warm up at idle speed for about 15 min and check the fluid. It sounds like you do not have enough in it, there for the whining noise with increase of speed since your transmission is speeding up with the rate of your vehicle. If this does not help and the problem persist please let me know. If the noise you were hearing was coming from the u joints of the vehicle it would not make a whining noise with increase of speed. The u joints will only make a noise when they are going bad when the vehicle is shifted into any gear from the shifter( EX: park to drive, park to reverse ECT.)
Both the shocks and bushings can cause the squeaking noise. It is very common in those vehicles, and the best bet for figuring out which one is this: put some brake fluid in a squirt bottle, and put a small amount(don't get overzealous with it, as it will remove paint) on all the rubber bushings, and drive it around a little to get it worked into the joints. Brake fluid is designed to work as a lubricant in brakes without degrading the rubber parts, so it is excellent in lubricating the rubber suspension parts. If your squeaking remains, then it is probably the shock. This diagnosis, of course depends on if the squeak is that really obnoxious rubber squeak noise that comes when you push down on the front end and make the suspension travel. If the squeak is the high-pitched one that is constant when driving, and doesn't change except with speed, then it is your brakes telling you that they need new pads.
Do you mean pulleys? Squeaks or Squeals ? Try some belt dressing, or to locate the culprit remove one belt at a time to see what belts and or pulleys are making the noise...
Throughout my experience with Toyota's I have found that several times the hubcaps have made some weird noises. Try removing your hubcaps and driving your vehicle. If the noise still persists please let me know and I can ask u some questions and try to help you with your problem.
First check the brake pads , a worn out brake pads may create a squeaking and grinding noise, if its delayed then you need to change rotors the brakes, get check ....
is it wheel speed or engine speed you hear ?..turning both ways or only one?...how many miles on vehicle and have you rotated tires and had ((((brakes)))) inspected?
