What code does the computer show when the check engine light comes on? Google that code and common causes and it will help point you in the right direction. Also may want to let it idle, and pull the connection to the idle air control valve, which is on the throttle body, and see if it changes what the engine is doing. Spray carb cleaner into the throttle assembly, small quick squirts, while it's running and it will help clean things. Also, take the pcv valve off and shake it. Hear rattling? Still good. Gunked up with oil and dirt, nothing rattles, bad valve. Cheap.

SOURCE: Truck Won't Start At All

before replacing the starter get a volt meter and test the voltage coming out of the voltage regulator which the power comes from the battery to the regulator down to the starter also make sure all wires on the starter are clean and what I mean is from rust because I had an f150 that did the same thing

SOURCE: My 2000 Ford Taurus at about 4000 rpm does not go

To do this in park or neutral is normal. To do it while driving is not.
There are so many things that could cause this but if you have no check engine light and it runs normally up until then I would suspect you have an exhaust restriction. This can be checked fairly easy on this vehicle, it has a DPFE sensor that mounts near the top back side of the motor. It will either be black or silver, will have a 3 wire connector to it and 2 hoses going down the back of the motor to the exhaust. You can disconnect one of these hoses and install a vacuum/pressure guage and measure exhaust back pressure. It should be 1 psi or less at idle and when you go to wide open throttle should not exceed 3 to 4 psi. If it does something in exhaust, most likely one of the catalytic convertors is stopped up.

SOURCE: ENGINE MISSING ABOVE 3800 RPM

no the code is most likely from a dpfe sensor for you egr system not the egr valve itself.a clogged fuel filter though might cause your low revs

It could be a spark plug, plug wire, or a coil. Sometimes thay break down intermittently. If it needs a tuneup, that would be the first thing to do.

Reasons for cylinder misfires

Ford coil on plug systems are multi strike ignition (spark) under 1300 rpm then go to single strike a single cylinder misfire can be created by several things . #1 Test engine compression on a cranking engine compression it should be around 150 lbs but if gauge reads different COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine #2 check engine running compression this will be around 120 lbs then rev over 2000 rpm and check pressure drop again COMPARE to other cylinders that work fine. any drop would indicate valve train problems. #3 All internal engine is fine then external problems are present vacuum leaks and or fuel injection volume is low.

Is there fuel pump driver module the 2006 ford ranger

The fuel pump driver module slows the pump near idle speed to lessen humming from the pump, it would not likely be your problem. Have a dealer run the engine surging pinpoint tests in the factory service manual to see what is going on.

2003 ford ranger intermittent idle

One possibility is a buildup of dirt and sludge in and around the idle air control valve. The buildup causes the idle air valve to stick.

When starting rpm gos up and down very fast and then stops

Hi Julio, You seem to have a problem with the cold start unit. This is a small piece of equipment fitted to the throttle body, usually below and in front of the surge tank. (The bulbous part of the manifold just above the intake manifold. The part referred to as the throttle body, where the acceleration cable is attached to a butterfly). The unit in question is an air by pass and its operation is automated using a small electric motor. If the motor becomes faulty the effects is as you report.Regards Johngee10

Check engine light came on and stays on but engine runs great

A lot of times yes it's just an emissions sensor acting up.
