Ford windstar stalling problems

When coming to a stop, then pressing on accelerator`the van will stumble or just stall.checked fuel pressure and only read 3.2,then changed fuel filter & got pressure 22.0.i know it should read at least 28. wondering since fuel filter was pretty clogged,if the fuel pump is going bad?

SOURCE: Ford-F350 7.3 turbo sluggish when you accelerate

i dont know about the turbo going bad,but i do know that ive seen 7.3 diesel have bad injectors, usually 2 at a time, check for fuel at the injector which can get messy so wear protective gear such as goggles and gloves, while running crack open the fuel line at the injector to see if there is fuel,it should run rough which is good on the working cylinders,if it doesnt change then maybe a bad injector,or not enough fuel pressure at that injector.injection pump issues are another thing, but most likely its an injector.

SOURCE: 2001 ford focus stalls andloss of power when i come to a stop

there is a recall for the fuel pump, but only applies to certain focuses according to the build date. if your car doesn't fall within the build date, it is a customer pay item... the car may very well need a fuel pump, i would say that is probably the best possibility. the other thing about recalls is they do expire, or if the car has already had the recall done you are not able to have the recall performed again. if it has the ztec engine i have seen valve cover gaskets blow out and soak the spark plugs with oil, this also causes the problem your having.hope this helps you and good luck---also what parts does the dealer think it is?

SOURCE: MY 98 FORD WINDSTAR STALLS WHEN I IDLE OR COMING

I'd be looking at removing IAC valve, and cleaning it out with throttle body spray cleaner, and checking mounting gasket as well. Usually some success with cleaning it & spray ports it came out of, but if not you may need to replace it.

Loss of power at highway speed is usually clogged fuel filter or clogged air filter. Checking fuel pressure won't tell you if the filter is clogging up. You can still have pressure, just no volume. Air filters can do the same, except it will usually die or stumble coming to stops. The abs and disable light won't affect the engine performance. Hopefully you have a bad wheel sensor that is also disabling the AWD. The sensor is around $100 the actuator for the AWD is over $300

Engine runs but makes no power stumbles and dies trying to accelerate.

i'm not sure what the psi from the pump should be, but it could be that it can't keep up with the quick acceleration since you said it was slow to build pressure. I would start with the cheapest first and change the plugs and air filter see if it improves, before I spent the money on a pump. if it turns out they are the problem it never hurts to have fresh plugs and air filter at least then you know what you have in it

VECHICLE SOUND LIKE LACK OF FUEL LEAN FUEL MIXTURE IF YOU PRESS ON ACCELERATOR ENGINE DIES,I WOULD SAY YOU HAVE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER OR WEAK FUEL PUMP.CHECK FUEL PRESSURE FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 48 - 49 PSI. FOR THE 3.3 ENGINE FUEL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 55 PSI. WITH NEW FUEL FILTER INSTALLED ALSO CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

sounds like a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump .. the fuel filter should be changed if it hasnt been already .. the fuel pump can be tested for flow rate and pressure ... you probabbly have a check engine light on .. you can take your van to most auto parrts dealers to have the computer checked for "fault codes" (usually free) .. that should give you an idea about what is going wrong ... make sure you dont overfill the gas tank .. if you do, gas can be sucked into the polution control system .. and that can cause lots of problems ...

Stumbles on acceleration

Well, I would replace the air filter, make sure the air hose from the air filter to the intake is not kinked or blocked and check for vacuum leaks. If these are all fine, I would check the fuel pressure as it is possible the pump is weak and not supplying enough fuel.

Engine Stall/Stumble after filling the gas tank

POSSIBLY. BUT MORE LIKELY TO BE A VAC LEAC TO THE EVAPROTIVE SYSTEM. CHECK ALL OF THE VENT TUBE UNDER THE VEHICLE, EXPECIALLY AT THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. REPLACE ANY BROKEN LINES AND THEN TRY AGAIN.
