How to change valve cover gaskets on 92 Dodge Minivan 3 Liter V6 Engine. Is it difficult to do in own garage.???

Here is what my manual says:

Your Current Vehicle: 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
3.9L, 5.2L & 5.9L Engines
NOTE
A steel-backed silicone gasket is used with the cylinder head cover. This gasket can be
used again.
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect closed ventilation system and evaporation control system from
cylinder head cover.
3. Remove cylinder head cover bolts, cover and gasket. The gasket may be used
again.
To install:
1. Position the cylinder head cover gasket onto the head rail.
2. Position the cylinder head cover onto the gasket and install the bolts. Tighten the
bolts to 95 inch lbs. (11 Nm).
3. Install closed crankcase ventilation system and evaporation control system.
4. Connect the negative cable to the battery.
5. Start engine and check for leaks.

I actually own a 1995 Dodge Spirit 3.0 and its not to difficult. The hardest part is removing the bracket on the transmission so you can remove the dust cover for the flywheel. (1) Drain the oil. (2) Remove the transmission bracket and the dust cover. (3) Remover all the pan bolts except one, just loosen this one so you can pry the pan off, because the pan will be stuck on. (4) Clean the engine block and the oil pan very clean. (5) Install the gasket OR sealer which ever it calls for and install the pan and fill with new oil and filter. To replace the valve cover gasket shouldn't be that expensive. Although those cars are known for blown head gaskets, so I would have them look carefully at the back of the engine for an oil leak. If it is leaking oil out of the head, it is only a matter of time before the head gasket will be pushing anti-freeze. Please rate my answer so I get points for it.

Disconnect the breather hose, which, depending on the engine in your vehicle, may be attached to the valve cover. Remove the retainer bolts for the valve covers. Depending on which engine you have, you might have as few as two bolts or as many as eight.

Lift the valve cover off the engine. If it does not want to come off easily, gently tap it with the rubber hammer. Clean the gasket-mating surfaces using the scraper and a shop rag.

Coat the gasket-mating surface of the valve cover with a thin layer of RTV silicone. Install the gasket onto the cover, then press it into the silicone. Install the valve cover.

Tighten the bolts to 5 foot-lbs. of torque for the 1.2-liter engine, and 4 foot-lbs. of torque for the 1.6-, 1.8-, .22-, 2.5-, 2.7- and 3.3-liter engines. Reattach the breather hose.

first you have to diconnect throttle cable and trans kick down from throttle body. than disconnect wires and vacuum hoses and remove upper intake manifold plenum. that should give you access to valve covers . Remove bolts from covers and change gaskets. also replace the gasket on the upper intake plenum. install items in reverse order of removal. keep track of vacuum lines where the go when you remove . mark with tape their location.

This procedure is similar to a 93 Camry with V6 engine...It's a pain in the...! Essetially, you have to remove the intake air plenum to gain access to the firewall side of the engine where the valve cover is located. If you buy a Haynes repair manual for the 92-96 camry, it covers the procedure.

i don't know that vehicle very well... but there are usually bolts/screws that hold them in place. 4 to 6 of them per cover. sometimes the spark plug holes have giant nuts that hold the cover in place.
