Before you touch the system have a cooling system pressure test done. Also have a compression test done as the coolant may be leaking past a blown head gasket. Have the radiator flow tested for partial blockage of the cores

Ok because i don't believe it could be the head gasket just yet(i hear no knocking and i don't plan on it being one lol.) So imma get the cpression test done tomorrow just to see if there are leaks

Will tap water over heat a car engine i have a 06 pt cruiser

Won't overheat it, but isn't the best option. If you live in a cold climate it can make the antifreeze weak and cause it to freeze though, causing severe damage. Always best to add a 50/50 mix of the recommended antifreeze.

2007 chrysler pt cruiser overheats

Well it is not that old, so first I'd check the coolant cap for damage or leaks-check and replace that cap. If this does not cure it, you might have a major problem like a blown head gasket, do not run it to the point that it overheats until you make sure the antifreeze is up to full and the cap is good-then start looking for leaks, and check the oil and the antifreeze for contamination (oil in antifreeze or antifreeze in oil)-either needs to be fixed, and the less you run it if these conditions exist the better your chances of limiting the damage.

Car overheats, losing antifreeze...the overflow coolant reservoir leaks out onto the ground when I try to put antifreeze in there - so could this cause my car to overheat? I have had the antifreeze drained...

Hello, if your car has a blown head gasket and exhaust is entering the coolant system, it will continue to run hot until it is repaired. Using pure antifreeze will make it worse. It should be at least 1/2 water. If the coolant reservoir didn't leak you could probably drive a few more miles, but not many, before it overheats again. All that is doing is giving you a little more capacity. If you continue to run the engine hot you are going to do more serious damage to it.
I suggest you have the head gasket replaced. That stuff you put in there seldom works, and if it does work, it's only temporary.

I hope this helps.
