Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

95 jeep cherokee idles and wants to die

My jeep starts good when cold, but after it is warmed up it idles bad and acts like it wants to die. I put the gas pedal all the way to the floor and spits and spudders. I have treated the fuel system 4 times thinking it was bad gas, that did not work. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Replace your ignition coil. it will be on the right side of the engine compartment. it has been a while but there is only a few small bolts to remove and of course the center spark plug boot and wire harness un hook. ... Enjoy driving the your jeep again when warm.

Change the temperature sending unit/temp sensor. When starting, the sensor will tell the computer to put the engine in cold start mode to give a bit more fuel and raise the idle a little so it WILL start and keep running without ever touching the throttle. Once warm-up is completed, this sensor will tell the computer to stop the cold start mode and go to normal run mode. THAT is your only problem.

High Idle when warmed up. 95 Grand cherokee 4liter. i can let off the gas and the vehicle will accelerate up to 30mph stays at about 1500rpms idling

Hi. Anon.
It sounds like your IACV, ( Idle Air Control Valve), is bad. I would go to the parts store, if you can drive the vehicle and have them hook a scanner up to your vehicle, ( its free) and pull the codes for you. This will give you a better idea of what is happening with your engine. Hope this helps. Let me know.

Your only problem friend, is the temperature sending unit/sensor. Upon cold start, this sensor wil tell the computer to go into cold start mode putting a bit more fuel in and raising the idle a bit to keep it running when cold without using the throttle. Replace that sensor and your good to go. Makes sense, right?

When i put my 95 jeep grand cherokee in drive it dies

I assume that is only when it is cold, and that it gets better when it warms up?
If not, then it sounds like the torque converter is locked up, and needs to be replaced?

Jeep starts and dies, if I give it gas and put it in gear and drive it will be fine. This happens if car is warmed up or cold

I would check the idle air sensor some times they get all carboned up and don't let air in during idle. It is located on the back of the throddle body.

95 jeep grand cherokee engine won't idle

check your air intake ducking for cracks....

the problem is probably there, wether you have a broken ducking or a cracked air intake gasket wich allows too much air in the intake manifold....

if the ducking and the gasket are good you might have a timing problem....
