2001 fORD f150 V8 CRANKS AND SOMETIMES WON'T

CRANKS AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T. gO OUT LATER AND IT WILL CRANK. DOES THIS ABOUT EVERY 2 WEEKS. GOOD BATTERY AND NEW CABLES THat are connected tightly. It turns over and it acts like it's not getting fire or maybe fuel. Is there a ignition relay or something on this truck that could be the problem?

Mine is doing the same thing.. I've been told that it's the Fuel Pump.

There is a relay, but I doubt that is the problem. You need to troubleshoot when it is not starting. Is the fuel pump running? Are you getting sparks?
The first link below shows the diagrams. The second one explains the troubleshooting steps.

SOURCE: the f150 93 truck won't crank unless relay is jumped

I had this problem on my F250. I actually just ended up putting in a switch that by passes the relay and brings power directly to ignition. Turn off switch so you dont drain battery, and turn on switch to start car.

SOURCE: F150 cranks but wont start

Hi, You did not mention what size engine is in this vehicle or mileage, but your starting issue sounds like it is related to the ignition control module. I am assuming the fuel pressure is ok at this point. The control modules are known to act up over time and can cause a driveability problem that your experiencing. The module will look like this;

2000 Ford f-150 4.6L v8 2wd Not Starting, Theft Light Blinking

Mine did this on a 2002 F150 I ended up having to replace the instrument cluster. I ordered a used one online then had the ford dealer program it.

I would also try a spare key if you have one could be the chip inside your key too.

Good luck

Have you cleaned the MAF sensor? I'd do that next. Ford should be able to find that problem though with a diagnostic.

WHAT CAUSES LOUD GRINDING SOUND WHEN TRYING TO CRANK MY 1990 FORD F150 WHEN IN PARK?

Check and make sure the bell housing on the transmission isn't broke and trying to separate from the engine. Shifter shouldn't move while cranking unless transmission itself is moving.

2001 Ford f150 ran fine, 30 minutes later it cranked rapidly but never started again?

Get a can of Starting fluid from the parts store and spray it into the air intake hose to the engine, if it fires up and stalls right away you have a fuel pressure issue, more than likely a defective electric fuel pump inside the gas tank.

Check fuel injection. Could be a fuse or module. Also check to see if fully in park or in neutral.
Most likely electrical side of ignition. Since plugs, cap and wires are out of the way, it is most likely in the fuse panel.

2001 f150 wont start change plugs and wires and now wont fire and wires are in correct order. can you help

Check your ignition fuse # 30, in the inside fuse box all the way on the right second from the bottom, check your coil and crank position sensor, these are responsible for spark, the crank sensor is bolted with 2 bolts next to the lower engine pulley, this is a magnetic pick up that triggers spark from the coil, if the crank sensor is good and you have no spark then the coil could be bad. Hope this helps, let me know.

Check all of your vacume lines. If it isn't a vacume line it is most likely the O2 sensor.

F150 ignition (won't Start)

If it turns over but just won't fire and the timing sounds fine when it does run you might consider your ignition switch.  Does it sound like it wants to fire but only just when you let go of the key?
