check to see if vacum line has a hole or has came loose from vacum gas ball.

no, just loosen the straps enough to drop the gas tank down some so you can get the old line out and the new line in

The fuel pump is in the gas tank. You'l need to drop the tank to replace the pump.

My '97 with the 5.9L gas engine does not. It's grounded from the battery to the frame and a ground strap ran from a bolt under the exhaust manifold on the passenger side(near the oil filter) to the frame

It is in the gas tank.

This is the year that dodge decided to put the fuel filter in the gas tank instead of inline on the railing. Just either empty the gas tank or make sure that there is hardly and left in it considering it will be heavy. Pull the necessary lines off top of tank and hoses and than take the nuts that hold your straps on the tank off. Remove tank and pull fuel filter.

Remove the tank and there is a ring clamp with large O ring, tap hard with a chisel and hammer, anti clockwise and it should come loose.... of course clean the area first so no dirt gets in the tank!

remove fuel filler hoses, support tank, remove fuel tank straps. lower tank to access fuel lines. disconnect lines and connectors.remove tank dump fuel in suitable container and dispose of properly
