Your Alero does not have a transmission dip stick. You do not need to check it unless it starts leaking.

Please let me know if this information is helpful. Positive feedback is appreciated. Thank You!

Where is the transmission fill plug on a 2000 Odyysey?

Transmission fluid is added through the same location where you check the fluid level, just remove the dipstick, using a funnel and add the fluid, the proper way to check the level is once the vehicle reach operating temp, and with the vehicle running check the fluid at that time.

Where is the location for the transmission fluid on a 2000 oldsmobile alero

In the transmission pan underneath tranny. You should have a red dipstick on passenger side to check. Not all models have a dipstick, some you have to go under car, find the upper filler bolt on tranny, remove the bolt, stick your finger in there to check tranny fluid levels and add from there. You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual for your car.

How to check trans oil on the '02 olds alero

Hi! The transmission on this model does not have a dipstick. Instead it uses a transmission fluid oil check plug. It is accessed under vehicle. To check fluid level you must remove oil check plug. if fluid is coming out transmission is full. If it requires some fluid you can get a gear oil bottle and a short piece of hose to put on end of nipple and squeeze dextron 3 transmission fluid in until it runs out of plug hole. Then re-install plug and snug it up. **Note: Car must be on level surface with engine off when checking. Use suitable jack stands in front and rear to make vehicle as level as possible.Always wear safety goggles when working under vehicle. I have included a picture of fill plug location for you. I hope you find this information useful!caf5dc7.gif

Transmission oil

Yes the transmission fluid goes in the location of the dipstick. As for the yellow "oil", if you just recently got the car maybe the previous owner put engine oil in the tranny fluid receptor instead of the engine...it's been known to happen. As far as I know, tranny fluid should be red, even if water gets into it, it's still a pinkish color. Maybe better to drain it and replace it. Good luck.

Need to add transmission fluid to a 1998 Olds Cutlass

The Tranny fluid goes in the Dipstick Hole. You will need a Narrow Funnel for this.

Transmission

Get chilton's repair manual that covers your car to find the sight/fill hole location. Autozone has This should not really be attempted by a novice since it will require the the car be placed on jackstands or a lift.

Cannot locate the filler plug for the transmission. need to know where to add tranny fluid to

usually there is a dipstick for the tranny fluid. if you can find that you add the fluid through there with a funnel. other wise you will have to look on top of the tranny for a check plug.

1999 olds alero

There is not your typical dipstick but underneath the hood about half way to the fire wall is where you put it in. If you unscrew the cap and fluid drips off if it does not you need more.
