2003 Ford Ranger Edge Plus 3.0 L Automatic, 4x4 When driving and wanting to go faster, usually uphill, the truck engine kinda shuts down, stalls, but doesn't stalls. Engine Lacks Power at higher speeds! Or Engine misses throughout driving range speeds. Fuel Jets Clearner recently used, with fresh gas. Exhaust might be stopped up. Check the catalytic converter and or muffler.

I personally would check the fuel pressure. Then I would go back to the coil. I have seen brand new bad coils out of the box. The symptoms of a loss of power point to this component, especially if the car idles well, but loses power when accelerating. Please do not rate this reply - we all are left to grasp at straws since you have changed pretty much everything. Good Luck. Please post the final fix of the problem.

I had a problem like this with a Pontiac sunbird years ago, it would die while driving down the road, and it would not crank until it had sat for a time (ranged from 5 mins to 2 hrs).
the mechanic said it was the fuel filter, replaced it and the car started immediately and never had the problem again. so it could be the fuel filter. you should be able to take it to an auto parts place and hook it up to the comp and it will give you some codes to help.
also, to answer ovs2 Im pretty sure the ranger isnt offered as a diesel.

if it is a flex fuel vehicle, it most likely is the flex fuel sensor and/ or connector- it's located on the driver's framerail just behind the door.hope this helps and good luck

Replace the TFI module. Ford back in 1986 thur 1993 had problems like the one you wrote about. TFI module gets hot and shuts car or truck off then when it cools sometmies starts and sometimes not.
