2003 Dodge Grand Caravan AWD Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 10, 2013

My 2003 dodge grand caravan se with a 3.3l has had intermittent starting problem for 1 and 1/2 years now. Codes p0352 and p0353 have popped a few times. Replaced coil pack, and used electrical grease in connection to make a better circuit. Still have problem. Battery and starter seem fine (cranks good). Sometimes when it has trouble starting, after it finally catches, engine runs slower than normal at first then goes to normal idle speed. Runs ok after does start. Also have whining noise under van (prob. fuel pump), and was wondering if maybe not enough gas getting up front to engine (hence, sometimes runs slower than comes up to idle speed), but not sure because every once in a great while I smell gas up front like it is getting enough. Starting problem happens worse in warm weather. How can I fix this start prob? thanx

You might want to have a shop take a look at the engine computer. Code 352 and 353 are used when the engine has direct ignition, and your van uses a single coil for all 6 cylinders. 352 would be for the coil for cylinder 2 and 353 would be for cylinder 3 which would not really apply to your model.
The computer controls spark so it could be a computer problem.
You should not smell gas in the engine compartment unless there is a leak, or the gas tank venting system is not working correctly.

SOURCE: 98 Grand Caravan 3.3 engine starting / running problems

A bad earth connection point on my New Zealand model Chrysler Voyager LE (same car as yours but right hand drive) caused similar problems, including the towing thing. My dealer told me that they would be busy for 3 weeks - dealer talk for "we would prefer to sell you a new one".

A bunch of black wires connect to a chassis ground bolt on my model on the right hand side wall, under dashboard height. I was "lucky" to have the fault present when investigating it, and testing I did afterwards proved this to be a definite cause. You have to remove some covers and pull the floor carpet away This may be on the left on your model. A plug in connector is used, to bring multiple wires together at this point. All I had to do was undo the nut and clean the metal of the bolt and earth lug - use a file or sandpaper, and maybe spray on some WD40 or CRC to impove conductivity. I added an extra washer to help the metal to metal bond also. This seems to have fixed the problem. It has been OK now for about 1000 miles. Good luck !

SOURCE: 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Front Noise

I had the same problem, my mechanic has had this same problem with other 2003 grand caravans. Flush the power steering fluid, replace it with ATF+4 and add Lucas power steering additive. Apparently dodge has posted the fluid that was originally used is causing this problem. $100 and it is purring like a kitten

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Its inside the tank. But first see if the fuel pump is clooged. take it off and see if its plugged. Check fuel pressure if you can. should be 45-55 psi

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cyl. I am getting fault codes P0351,P0352 and P0353 which is defined as #1,#2 and#3 ignition coil circuit and code P0505 JEEP Idle Control System Malfunction and code...

I would check Cam Position Sensor as is directly related with ignition. Power loss is due to the ECU going on "limp mode" to prevent further damage.
I hope this helps!

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee and it giving me four code p1391 p0351 p0352 p0353 i will like to know the problem please

For some reason you question has been duplicated several times, so I will answer this one.
Code 1391 may be a problem with the ABS system, the other three codes are concerning the first 3 coils. Your engine has direct spark so each cylinder has its own coil.
I would clear the codes and see which ones come back after a test drive. If the three coil codes come back the coils would need to be tested.
