Red warning light dash

Red dot light on.van idling while i was putting something inside it cut off and when i tried to crank it that is when light came on. checked gas cap, tried disconnecting neutral battery cable. will crank up for about 30 seconds then cut back off. what else can i do? what is causing this?

Hi, Seems that the SKIM (Security Key Immobilizer Module). Try locking and unlocking drivers door, sounds like security system was triggered. If unlocking and locking door does nothing locate (ECU) fuse, (Main) fuse, and (IOD) fuse. If so pull fuses turn key to on position do not start, wait 3 to 5 minutes install fuses and try starting. Please also check battery connections for clean and secure.

needs a battery but be careful cause sometimes a bad alternater will cause the battery to go bad

sound like you O2 sensor is foulded up sneding a bad signalto your computor making it load up on the gas & air flows. Try putting some SEAFOAM in to your gas tank to help clean your O2-sensor up. You and pick this up a Wal-Mart & and autoparts store.

the system is pressureized and the seal on the caps tend to go bad.

Vheck for a dashboard groung wire. It should be aon the passenger end screwew to the dash frame and the body ofthe vehicle. AND! There is a ground strap from the engine to the body. It is on a bolt on the top of the engine in a spot the engine is nearest to the body. Make sure all grounds are cleN AND SECURE, GOOD LUCK,_NED_

I hate to say it, but if that wasn't a Chrysler dealer that you took it to originally, or an experienced Chrysler Mechanic, they may have done more harm than good. If it was a Chrysler dealer, take it back, and give them one more chance to make it right. If they don't rectify it, call Chrysler owner relations. If it was not, take a copy of your work-order from other place with you, to a dealer and ask for a proper diagnosis, and if they have any idea if previous work done, was the cause of it all, or any.

Solid red dot came on right side. Now turn key and nothing

3.7L gas or Diesel? (know what you are driving?)
jump start it , call AAA and do that.
or uses your jumper cables, buy them and keep them hidden in car at all times.
battery lugs all white with corrosion, clean them.
wiggle shifter yet.? while cranking?
try to crank it, in Neutral not park , yet?
cranking takes 20 times the current than headlights. or more diesel.
and 1000s times DING power. so means nothing.

what light the glove box oper guide tells you all lamps
book is free if lost (ask)
30 objects, which one is RED?
on my 08 the solid red (has no mark) is SKIM immobilzer light.
(its a stealth light on purpose) #20 is left. (kills fuel not cranking)

did you mean, the Charge lamp was ON, just before the ENGINE
died, lamp #10 , THAT MEANS the charge system failed.
and that cause the battery to DISCHARGE.
and then engine must die. (all cars)
charge the battery and cure #10 lamp warning true cause.
never drive and ignore warning lamps if you in fact did.

I have a 2004 Chrysler van town and country .I went to crank it this morning and the it crank then 2Seconds later it cut off and the anti security system. Light came in.It wont crank.

Corrosion on the battery terminals is often to blame for poor/intermittent starting. Enough voltage/current to light up the dash, but not enough to turn over the starter. You could just wiggle them and be lucky but you should take them off, clean thoroughly then put them back on tightly.

Flashing red dot on my dash for 2002 caravan and wont start

It sounds like the car is not recognizing the key. That red light is the anti-theft indicator. Sometimes due to batteries dying in the key fob or car itself this can happen. The car and key essentially loose track of each other. It can also be a problem with the vehicles control module. This is a situation where you are pretty much stuck with taking it to a Dodge dealership where they can hook it to a scan tool or reprogram a key, depending on what the exact issue is.

There is an orange light on the dash like a horse shoe with 2 orange dots inside it. It is under the ABS warning lamp, comes on with ignition lights but sometimes does not go out for about 5 kms. 1997...

check the air pressure in your tires -- that is what the warning light is for..

My 98 dodge caravan would cut off while I was driving. The problem seemed to be the grounding wire that is connected to my positive battery pole. After the wire was regrounded the van will crank up but...

Very possible its is a bad IAC (idle air control motor) issue which controls the idle. its a common problem and they do wear out, also when disconnecting the battery the computer forgets the idle settings and needs to relearn the idle .

Kangoo 1.5 diesel van wont start.

Just had exactly the same problem with my Kangoo, the bolt had come loose on the bottom crank pulley and the alternator belt came off, unfortunately, as I have found out, this allows the cam belt pulley to move on the shaft and the timing will have slipped and this almost certainly causes damage to valves, pistons etc. I'm just about to strip mine down to find the damage.
Not good news but hope it helps to find the problem.

Warning lights flashing on 2001 jeep, low idle rpm

The sensor on the bellhousing is a crank position sensor...rpm is read from the ignition coil. It sounds like you have gone everywhere I would have gone, but, what if the flashing lights are the result of low charge rate from low idle (not the other way around)? Then you would be looking at an idle air control valve or something causing low idle condition.If the passageway is clogged up it could be lowering the idle speed. When it rains the air density changes, but It dosen't make a lot of sense. Map sensor is pressure sensitive but usually causes rough running if failed, manifold temp sensor could have something to do with it, but I've never seen one do that.
Just a couple of thoughts...can't offer more, but this is definitely one I'd have to be there for!
