Why were the brake lines replaced?

Sounds like the mastercylinder may have run dry. You have to bench bleed the master and then DO NOT allow fluid to run low, while bleeding brakes...

if master cylinder runs low on fluid and air gets in, almost impossible to bleed with out releasing the lines and bleed master it self.

It sounds like you have a bad mastercylinder cause when you panic brake it doesn't have time to bleed through the valve in the cylinder but under normal braking your foot is on pedal longer in turn giving the fluid time to bypass the valve in the mastercylinder in turn the pedal going to the floor.

Its possible it could be the master cylinder itself, It should always push fluid. Does the car have ABS? It could also be inside the ABS module if it does. I am familiar with brake systems and diagnostics, just not familiar with this year olds whether it has abs or not.

I have a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville. Brake Fluid is leaking from ABS box. What to do?

if you have fluid that is only leaking from the abs unit and the brake lines are all tight and not leaking at the unit then you have an abs unit leak and it will have to be replaced and bleed as well as the entire system should be bled to get all the air out.the unit may have to be bled by the use of a scan tool with the capablility to bleed the unit electronically

Replaced L/F caliper and rear brake line feeding rear brakes. Scanner will not recognize ABS system. Need to bleed brakes and cannot do it manually. 1996 Chevrolet 3500 series/ diesel/ 2wd.

if air has gotten in the abs unit you will need a scanner capable of running pump to bleed out. for starters do a gravity bleed by opening bleeder at caliper to get most air out of system keep it open until fluid drips out and do same at rear. be sure resevoir stays full.

I am working on a 2004 dodge caravan with a soft brake problem.i have replaced the rear shoes and adjusted rear brakes, also replaced front rotors and pads.i have also replaced the master cylinder.after...

try bleeding the master cylinder at the lines first as it indicates that there is still air in the pistons
loosen one line at a time and gently apply the brakes until any air bubbles come out tighten the line before releasing the brake pedal
do it for the other line and then bleed all the brakes starting at the longest line first and ending at the shortest line

92 dodge van rear ABS-brake and ABS lights on/can't reset?

Its probably how your bleeding your brakes, but first make sure the bleeding nipples are facing upward. You should bleed diagonaly, front pass wheel then rear driver wheel. Then front driver wheel and rear pass wheel. The abs light has its own computer your have to get it scanned to clear the codes and turn off the light

98' Ford Windstar has a spongy brake

Have you had anyone try to clean and adjust the rear brakes? You will need a shop to scan the van for ABS codes first to cure the ABS light.
