I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora. The brake pedal has gone down all the way to the floor, and the the brake fluid light came on. So I put more brake fluid in. At check it again. That is when I heard like air hissing coming from the driver side and turn the engine off. I look on the wheel side to see if any fluid was coming from there. Nothing. Then I opening the hood and that when I look closer in I notice that fluid was leaking from there. Does that mean I have a brake line leak? What do I have to do to replace them? I am new to this so any advice would be helpful? Thanks

Yes you have a broken line or bad master cylinder leak or seal depending on where you find the leak. Do not attempt to drive the car until you fix this because you will not be able to stop the car. In addition, after you repair the line you will need to bleed the air from the brake system before driving the car. Hope this helps.

This could be a # of problems but try these: Remove gas cap and carefully inspect it and the fuel filler neck for small cracks and/or distortion/dirt. Under the hood there is a small green cap which is the test port for the evap system, remove it and check the schrader valve to be sure its tight ( left hand threads!!!). Check all hoses attached to this for cracks/breaks.Other than this a diagnostic will have to be ran with a smoke machine to pin point leaks or valve/switch/solenoid/canister failure.

SOURCE: 1998 olds Aurora i have an oil leak, is it common

There are common places, you'll just have to look around to see where the leak is:
Around the oil filter and the housing
Around the oil pan and the pan gasket
The oil seal behind the damper pulley
Valve cover gaskets
These are the most common places, leaks can spring up anywhere.

OK, if the ABS light is on one should scan it with an OBD-II ABS Brake Scan tool like Actron's ($99 to $116 on Amazon.com).

This will likely tell you which wheel has a bad speed sensor.

There could be an internal fluid leak on the master cylinder which needs to be addressed before it's safe to drive.

It would be nice to have the ABS portion of your braking system fixed at the same time.

You may be looking at a new ABS Brake Wheel Speed Sensor which is sometimes put into the hub permanently (requiring a new hub).

1998 olds aurora need to locate shift release solinoid

If you have brake lights, that switch is OK. The shifter release solenoid is built into the shifter. The whole shifter has to be replaced. It could be the wiring. Usually not though. Most times t is that high dollar shifter.

BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR

Sounds like there is a leak in the hydraulics. Have you checked your brake fluid. If it's empty that tells you you have a leak somewhere in the system.

New front calpers can,t get bleed spongy pedal

sometimes it may take a while to bleed the brakes, to bleed the brakes you need two people. to bleed brakes properly: make sure car is off and brake fluid is full, have someone pump up the brake pedal until it feels hard and hold it down once it is hard(make sure when you loosen the bleed screw the person pushes the pedal to the floor), have another person loosen the bleed screw until the brake pedal is on the floor of the car. repeat as needed and check the brake fluid often when doing this

Brakes are gone

check ur brake lines for posible leaks. also make sure to bleed your brakes after you put fluid into it or else the air won't come out of the brake lines causing ur pedal to still go to the floor
