It means the the car was imported from a different country. or that the DVD Player was bought in a different country to be retrofitted to a vehicle so that existing purchased DVDs can be played.
So, the car was originally bought in Mexico and sold in Canada. Only Mexican DVDs play.
or Car was bought in Canada, and the DVD Players was bought in Mexico so the Mexican family can play the DVDs they had at home.
It is called a Region Lock. Some are fixed, some can be changed once or twice.

The warning chime of 5x5 is a sign that the SRS ( airbag ) light is burnt out, and there is an error with the SRS system.
Verify SRS ( airbag ) lamp operation, turn the key from off to run ( do not start ) the airbag lamp should illuminate. If not, it is burnt out. Need to pull the cluster and replace. ( thread at F150online.com on cluster removal in the how to forum - titled about changing cluster illumination color or installing a cluster overlay ).
Once you replace the SRS bulb, you will get a LFC ( light Flash Code ) of a 2 digit number. Example : flash flash flash flash { short pause } flash flash { longer pause } flash repeats the same for 5 times, the solid on. This is an example of a LFC 4-2. Once you have the LFC start a new problem with the LFC and we can get that fixed after you get the bulb replaced.
If your using copies then some dvds wont read them even if the old one did, sometimes its a gamble if it reads or not, if your using a master then i would have them check it out, it may be bad or need programing, it funny because sometimes it will play a copy and sometimes not, thats what i've run into. hope this helps.
On the parking brake under the dash is a switch at the top that actuates the parking brake light. On most vehicles most are two wire switches, but some are one wire switches. If you have a two wire switch then you can unplug it and use a test light with the ignition turned on without starting the vehicle and test the wires to see which is the hot wire and then connect to the one that has no voltage on it because it is the ground for the switch. The wire is used to detect the parking brake position as engaged before it will allow viewing of the DVD player when the vehicle is not moving. When the brake is off the DVD player will not play DVDs, this is a safety measure so the driver will not be distracted while driving. Good Luck, RAC
Not sure about the European version, but the American factory version will not play video DVD's while the vehicle is in motion, (Drivers area) due to laws against this. Also...just to cover the non-factory installs, most aftermarket indash DVD players have a safety switch which prevents the driver from playing DVD movies while driving the vehicle. The vehicle must be in park for the DVD player to play a movie.
you may have a different region on you dvd to your dvd player. say your dvd player was 1st region you can only play 1st region dvds if you try a 2nd or 3rd region dvd it would not work. you can go to a dvd specialist to get it tuned to a multiregion dvd player.
go to a dvd player shop and ask if they know how to tune it.
