2001 jeep cherokee O ring pwr steering pump to tank

2001 jeep cherokee O ring power steering pump to tank . where does it go? on the tank or in the pump? Does it fit loose into the pump opening or around the collar where the tank mates with the pump? I am assuming that the small connecting tube with a flange inserts the longer end into the tank?

SOURCE: i have a jeep grand

If it only goes stiff part of the time, the box is probably OK.

Before considering major surgery:

  • check the power steering fluid level.
  • condition of the fluid
  • condition and tension on the belts
  • check for low or uneven tire pressure
  • check steering linkages for damage (did someone borrow the car recently?)
If none of these check out, then consider replacing the pump.

Parts are not cheap. I'm not sure how hard it is to get to your lines but line wrench/crows foot are probably needed. They are like a boxend wrench with cutout to go over line.

SOURCE: Heater hose coolant return tube

Yes you can remove the tube if its a V8. If its an inline 6 cylinder you have to remove the pump in order to repair the heater pipe.

O ring in fuel pump bad

the o ring is under neath the fuel pump in your tank. When you pull the fuel pump you will see a rubber ring come up with the pump. The ring stops moisture and dirt from getting in the tank. If your o ring is craked it could cause your jeep to run a little rough. I'm having the same problem in my jeep. I can not put the rubber ring on perfect. The rubber ring seems to be to big.
