I had to change the blower motor, turns out the spring tension on the brushes on the motor were too tight and ate into the brass commutator of my old motor.

what does the harness look like where you plug it into the resister??? there is a repair pigtail for this fix.... the other problem most likely resides in the controller on dash. easy replacement,,,
If its not near the blower motor, it may be on the hvac box on the firewall in the engine compartment. It depends on if it has ac or not. They are usually behind the glove box mounted in the side of the heater box.
The blower motor is on the passengers side under the dash. You might have to remove the a lower panel. This is the insulator panel. If the blower works at all just turn it on and follow the noise.Hope this helps.Good luck.
i have been having that same exact problem with my 2002 grand prix for over a year now, and when my ac is on the lower setting the it doesnt work plus the headlights and lights on my dash go out. On Max everything works. i changed the blower resistor(about $35), still doesnt work. i changed all relays and fuses related to the ac, still doesnt work. i changed out the actual ac control switch in the dash, still doesnt work. i have changed everything but the blower motor and have asked every mechanic and auto parts retailer i come across and no one knows the answer. The best answer i got is that it is probably a wiring problem like a short somewhere.
