Disable factory alarm

will the alarm stop by itself after a period of time?

I had a car once that sometimes the alarm would go off while I was driving and id have to get out, shut door, put key in door and lock and unlock the car and it would turn the alarm off, and sometimes by just starting the car will turn them off... If you cant even start the car, or anything, you will probably have to call someone....... But first I would pop the hood and disconnect the battery for.. idk 10 minutes?(certain systems in the car can actually store a temporary charge) then reconnect the battery cable and see if alarm goes off? Leave the door open and such and unlocked while doing this and possibly when you re connect the battery cable it wont be activated

1998 v6 regular mustang the original factory installed alarm system activates by itself 1-3 times a day for no reason.Once the car key is put into door and opened the alarm will go off. Also, the interior...

this happened to us when we got a new key and had it programmed with the car. anytime we locked the doors and opened them with the key instead of the remote, the alarm would set itself off. we took out the fuse for the alarm.

"Factory Alarm keeps going off" No matter how many

There is a good probability that you have the PRESTIGE alarm. There is a hidden microswitch somewhere around the left kicker panel. It is also called the "valet" switch. It will disarm the alarm, but still allow the remote to unlock the doors.

Alarm Issues

I have been having this same issue for the past 6 months. So far no one can give me an answer that solves the problem. I have done several things unsuccessfully 1) changed the battery (still happens) 2) flipped the valet toggle switch under the steering column (still happens) 3) I lock the doors using the automatic lock button on the driver and/or passenger door (the alarm will not self-activate and go off, but this still doesn't solve the root problem with the alarm)

My battery died after recharging it the alarm buttom needs to be reset. I need to know where the reset buttom is

HI ! I haven' t researched your car for you just yet !

I thought Id quickly mention the common method for reprogramming your alarm & remote, If you still require assistance then just ask me and I will find more about your car :)

Common Methods for resetting/re-learning code

  • Factory Fitted Alarms/ Central Locking / remote comes on ignition key.

Insert ignition key , turn key to accessories / red , press & hold lock/unlock for a few secs.remove key, exit vehicle and try un/lock doors &/or alarm (Some models differ slightly & require engine on or manual use of door locks whilst resetting.

  • Aftermarket /Non-Factory / remote is separately operated
Most use a small back-up battery usually located within the loudspeaker/Alarm unit itself under the bonnet,
Remove this battery for a short period to reset the remote code

The access panel for the backup battery is never in an obvious place. look carefully :)
