This truck uses the E4OD transmission. It is an electronically driven tranny that changes gears when it receives a signal to do so. It sounds to me that either your control module has failed or you have somehow damaged the wiring between the tranny and the module. Another possibility is the wiring has simply popped off if you were by chance 4 wheeling in some rough terrain with high ground clearance that could have possibly brushed along the underside of your vehicle.

there are dozens of possibilities, and they are impossible to narrow down without a scan tool, and to read the code that the transmission has stored, the most common problem in this cars transmission, is the temperature sensor, which is part of the internal wiring harness, expect about $350 unless you are the original owner, if you bought it new, you may be able to push it through warranty.

You have a 4L60E whick is controled by your ECM. It sounds like you need and new transmission, the sun gear in it has failed and is the weak point on this transmission.
When you get a new transmission have them to a corvette servo upgrade. The part is only $45.00 and the shop should know about the upgrade. It will make your truck shift a lot more firmer but last longer.

SOURCE: Changing oil in a Ford 450 super duty motor home
Places that service motorhomes want to make the bigger bucks. Do it yourself. Its just a drain plug and filter removal. They have a large oil capacity but if you have changed oil before on other cars go ahead and do it. If it sits high enough off the ground you will not need to raise it. Get a good oil change pan that holds 8 quarts. It may take that much.
