2000 Ram 1500- turns over but has trouble catching and starting

2000 Dodge Ram 1500- Usually runs fine with a minimal of bog down on acceleration. Occasionally, when I try to start after truck has been sitting for a few hours, it gives rhythmic whining like it can't get air or fuel. It sounds like it's on the verge of starting, but it never does. It has done this twice in the past. After letting it sit for a while after trying, it has started those two occasions. Please help with a diagnosis.

gas, rain doesn't seem to be a factor. Not sure about last tune up as it's my father-in-law's truck. He seems to have taken pretty good care of it until he started letting me drive it. I'm responsible for upkeep in exchange for driving it.

My 88 toyota camry wont accelerate when i step on the gas pedal

tests:

cruise at say 45mph ok?
if i accelerate , it bogs then catches up?
if i accelerate, it bogs and never catches up?
if i go WOT, wide open throttle it has full power up a hill after the bog?

these test , are the KEY tests.
this tells me what is wrong.
i hope the car is tuned up, if not , why no? the 60k mile done?

Truck starts up and runs will not accelerate past 2000rpm without bogging down

unbolt the catalytic converter they might be clocked up. unbolt the down pipes both side of the exhaust and drive the truck if its getting pass 2000 rpm its the cat if not then check the fuel filter

I have 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2L. idles good a little low but good but when accelerating motor bogs down and tries to stall. is that my M.A.P. sencor?

I have 1999 Dodge 1500 gas motor. It has a high idle and when I let off the gas it stalls out. The truck also has a engine light on. What do I do??????

2000 dodge ram 1500 replaced fuel pump but still bogging down when you get to 40mph no dash lights coming on has died twice when you come to a stop second time acted like it didnt want to start back up but...

You indicate the fuel pump was replaced, but did you replace the fuel filter? A clogged filter can restrict fuel flow to the point the engine literally starves for fuel and smothers out.

Also would be a very good idea to check fuel pump pressure at the intake manifold. Also might want to check fuel pressure regulator.

Starts and idles fine but when you accelerate, when it reaches 1500 RPMS it starts cutting out and 2000 RPMS is the highest you get. No check engine light, new fuel pump, 50 pounds of fuel pressure what...

I would try running the codes it may have bad throttle position censor

You need to check the basics first,vacuum,clogged fuel filter,fuel pressure,air cleaner,then pull codes and follow a flow chart on the codes you get.most of the time a volt meter will find sensor problems.

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 won't start

still sounds like the timing belt/chain to me,especially since it just shut off goin down the road, had a 93 that did the same thing,dodge has a kind of safety switch that if the timing belt breaks the engine will shut down to keep you from tearing anything else up.

My 2000 dodge ram 1500 van 5.2 litre as I am driving it will die

If you don't do much highway driving with your van you may have a carbon build up try some fuel njctor cleaner and mid grade gas for a tank or two If you go with the fuel additive rev your engine and watch for moisture and carbon from your exhaust contine to do this till exhaust is clear do not over rev ie do not hold it to the floor press he accelerator pedal and release
