2000 my truck died figured out it was the alternator replaced that drove it home and I heard something and I lost everything on my dash board no radio no lights nothing shut the truck off an hour later tried starting it and nothing. My exboyfriend wired fog lights so I figured that was shorting something out pulled those totally off to realize the battery fuse blow just replaced that went to connect the positive to the battery and the fuse blew before I could even get the positive on the terminal. Any ideas why it would keep blowing?

If this vehicle has a trailer harness, that could be the problem; it could be shorted out. Additionally, if there is no trailer harness, look under the truck bed at the rear, look for a grey wiring connector that wires come out of, and run to the taillamps. I have observed corrrosion in this connector, which will result in a short circuit. You may find it necessary to cut the connector out and resplice the wires back together (eliminate the connector), if severe corrosion is indeed present.
not positive but look in owner manual for a fuel pump reset button i had this problem at one time and that fixed it it is usualy under the dash area somewhere on the drivers side or in a kick panel (decorative cover on the side firewalls inside the cab)....good luck i hope this helps!
SOURCE: My truck keeps blowing the instrument panel fuse.
My 2002 F350 keeps blowing fuse 45. I lose the instrument cluster (all gauges) and there is no throttle response. Sounds like a wire for the od button is shorting out in the steering column. Remove the ignition switch and column shroud and look for a bare wire. be sure and look by where the boot sits. I am just looking for more info before I try it myself. Hope this works for others.
