Torque converter lock-up solenoids are at the top of the transmission on the OUTSIDE. The two came off with three bolts and the screens on mine were clogged with "lint".

This code indicates that the torque converter clutch is most likely not working, it indicates a fault in the clutch engagement circuit, to diagnose this you must remove the trans pan and test the torque converter clutch solenoid and possibly replace the torque converter.

Hello there my name is Clara I have a 2001 acura TL 3.2 liters thats reading the code P0740

P0740 is the torque converter malfunction code. The converter is in between the engine and transmission. The fluid that you are seeing is transmission fluid. It needs to go to a mechanic to narrow it down from there.

Check Engine Light P0740. Car stalls when starting (occasionally), and the transmission slips when stopped.

This code is set when the transmission control module detects improper voltage at the torque converter clutch. This can be caused by low tranny fluid/dirty tranny fluid/defective torque converter clutch solenoid/electrical connections to from solenoid

I have been getting the code p0740 it says something about the torque converter clutch circuit. it doesn't seem to be going into over drive. dose anyone have any suggestions I can try.

On some cars, there is a TCC solenoid in the transmission which can be replaced by removing the bottom pan. In some cars this solenoid can't be accessed without major disassembly.

I have an Acura Cl 3.0 1999. It has drove fine sick I bought it a year ago. I drove to the gas station turned it off, filled up with gas, went to turn it back on and nothing. Only sound is two clicks from...

if it dont crank how would you say the starter is good.
you dont know that. sorry'
making assumptions is the top killer of all diagnosis.
you set in driver seat:
i key on, is the CEL ,charge and BRAKE lamps glowing
if not you lost all power ,12vdc to dash and ignition.
they must glow, if not the battery is drained or a fuse is blow.
check all fuses , now.
if all those normal lamps glow, (warnings) per the operator guide.
the good, you have 12v power.
proceed to cranking..
"as they say, Call the Auto Club time"
the first check, is called a jumper cable jump start off a running car.
if that works, then the starter is good and the battery was ONLY discharged. (no assumptions. see?)

then and only then could you say, starter is good. see?
if the car JUMP passes ,then battery bad or charge system failure....
(ask for help that topic, "my battery is drained, why?"
if the JUMP fails (to other cars battery)
we then hot wire the starter, does starter crank fast and robustly>>?
yes?, then the key line is bad.
no ?, then the starter is bad. or its 2 huge cables are bad.

YES?? starter hot wires good. then? !!!!
see the tricks here,
my guess is this car is A/T tranny, Automatic.

this page also teaches , hotwiring any starter , safely.

1999 automatic acura cl seems like it skips/ hesitates going from gear to gear? Anyone ever experience the same problem? Is it a matter of flushing the tranny out? Any help is appreciated.

That happened to me when my tranny went out. did it intermittently for two weeks when all of a sudden if felt like i was driving with one gear, then it wouldn't go anywhere. It failed on me @ 99,731 miles. so it was covered under warranty. Good luck.

My '97 acura cl 3.0 has a brake lamp on, and will not let me depress the shift lever button. I have already checked the engine fluid, and it was full. not sure what to do now. trying to avoid costly...

firstly, there should be a small vertical slot next to the shifter labelled "shift lock". Stick your ignition key in there and jiggle it while you try to depress the shifter button. That should get you out of 'park'. Now, when you say a brake lamp is on, do you mean on the dashboard or one of the actual brake lamps?

2002 acura cl shifts hard into 3rd gear engine and tcs lights on

The Transmission is likely shot. That year along with others had transmission defects. My new 2002 TLs died at 21k miles. I go to Acura for most all service and they gave me a $1500 discount on a tranny. It still cost me $3500.
