I have seen many accounts here of no display but mine was different. The display image was unreadable at times. It might say FFL when displaying time or any other combination of the display characters. Now it is dead. I took it to Pontiac just as the warranty was expiring but it wouldnt do it for them and they wouldnt send it in so I got the shaft. aNY IDEAS?
SOURCE: Can't see anything on the clock/Radio Display
the radio display is lighted by a tiny bulb inside the radio, to change this u must remove the radio from the dash and take off the top sheet metal cover, under that u will see a small twist in bulb socket, replace that little bulb, the bulb is about $2 and avail at any full sevice auto parts store.
SOURCE: My digital clock/radio display is faded 2005 Pontiac Grand AM
the most common reason for this is because in side your radio there is tiny little light bulbs behind the main display that have blown..to repair this you need to remove the radio and replace the bulbs .hope this helps!
SOURCE: Reset code for a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT radio
unfortunately you would only have the code if you bought it new, each code is radio specific and can only be obtained by the dealer, if you have the owners manual it might have been written down by the original owner if that is not you

The display shows garbage about half the time. It might say8:99 or FLI . It appears the electronics selecting the segments for the display is all messed up.
Does the LCD illuminate?
If so, it could just be the bulb for the backlight, which you can find on Ebay for about $20 bucks, just search for "GM Radio Bulb"
