SOURCE: how to replace starter 2002 GMC Sierra 2500

Enjoy this...jack up truck, remove tire, remove plastic cowling and expose front right wheel well.you may want to wash this side of engine at this point. Remove battery cables, remove the 13 mm nut and 8mm nuts on the solenoid. take a 15mm socket and remove the upper aand lower holding bolts. Use an extra long extension for the lower bolt. Ratchet out in front of the A-arm. Dislocate the starter from the fly wheel side of starter. wiggle, jiggle and point the starter gear at a 45 down and PULL starter out and down.

1998 gmc sierra 6.5L duramax code P0238. What is it?

Here's a link to the code,Your boost sensor apparently malfunctioned or possibly sent a signal (for whatever reason ) that the ECM interpreted as a out of range signal . In this case the sensor signal was too high . I would personally clear the codes from the ECM and operate the vehicle under various driving conditions (especially acceleration under load conditions which would engage the turbocharger ) to see if the code resets again . If it does, I would replace the sensor . However , if it does not reset , and no other codes occur it could've been an intermittent malfunction or possibly a glitch in the ECM parameters which does occur from time to time in any computer .

1998 gmc sierra is experiencing excessive fuel consumption, code P0442

Your vehical is not igniting fuel like it is supposed to. This may be due to bad spark plug or a problem with a fuel line. Join the gmc sierra forum to ask about the code. They should know the answer.

1998 gmc Sierra Engine light comes on and says O2 sensors. Replaced all sensors. Next day the light comes back on and says O2 sensors. What causes them to blow?

Hi, there are a number of trouble codes associated with the O2 sensors. Some indicate a sensor failure and others indicate a different problem. Can you tell me the trouble code you are getting?

Excessive black exhaust on 2003 GMC Sierra Duramax Diesel.

This is what i would try (cheapest first) redexe/wyyns
injector cleaner, double dose, then i have put 1gal gas in 10gal diesel to increase burn temp (you may encounter a hot start problem temporarilly)then if still smoking, get a compresion check on the engine(this will tell you volumes)
by the way the NATO tanks put in 1/3 gas in diesel to stop it freezing in arctic conditions.any more than 1/3 can result in problems.

Reset maintenance light

Go to any Autozone and free of charge they will run the code for you, This will tell you "why" the engine light is on. If it's important - fix it or go to shop. If it's something that is minor and doesn't effect the trucks coming and going to next step. Hook up the code reader - again....see if the light comes back on. If it does then ask the Autozone employee if you hold the code reader. There is a "cancel" button to get rid of the code. You can delete the code. The Autozone is not supposed to erase the code. BUT HE CAN LOOK AWAY WHEN YOU DO IT!

Can't find Nav fuse

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD Duramax and use the HyperTech software also. I assume you are talking about the installation instructions for HyperTech where it tells you to remove the ONStar and Radio fuse. Look in the owners manual for the fuse box layout under the hood. On mine, it's in the Duramax book and the only fuse that applies is the one listed for the Audio System. You will need to reset your clock when finished.
