OK well here are a few silly questions.
A) Does the car start with the key stuck in the ignition?
B) do you have two sets of keys with fobs that come with all Alero's?
C) is it insured?
If the answer to all these questions is yes then my suggestion to you is to simply remove the fob from the keyring and leave it where it sits, in the ignition and use the fob as it will lock the doors with the key in the ignition.
I drive an alero and wouldn't wish one of these "mechanical/electrical nightmares" on anyone and GM turns a blind eye this vehicle every chance they can. Good luck

Replace ignition key cylinder from 91 Honda accord

the ignition key cylinder comes as a single unit with the ignition lock assembly. if you want to use the same key as before take the entire lock assembly to a lock smith and they would be able to rekey the tumblers to match your old key.

Key got stuck in the inition on on position car will not stop

The ignition lock cylinders tend to break off on those vehicles (Caravan / Voyager / Town and Country) and cause the symptoms you are describing. You will most likely not have to replace the entire ignition switch assembly (although sometimes this is the case). The lock cylinder is available as a separate part and can be replaced individually.

My remote key button got stuck and i cannot use it to open or lock the door system again. how and where do i get a replacement

Well in some cases a local locksmith can repair your FOB remote to make it function again. But sadly the keys have to come England and Laser cut they will need your Vin# and proof of ownership as well. The transponder is in the key itself. But keep in mind once you get another key made it will render the absent keys useless and will not function in the Car again. So make sure you send your key now to be repaired along with the new key order purchase, or it will not work when the other key comes back. The dealer is really the only place to get these at the tune of around 300 Bucks each. Theft of these are tremendous and every effort is to protect the owner. Which is good and bad at the same time. Some places are cheaper but 1 mistake programming and it leaves your cars computer useless which will cost more to get it unlocked. SO there is no easy way to do this sorry The Dealer is it. Please rate my solution this is how i earn my achievements here on FixYa Thanks in advance.

Can not remove the key from the ignition (2002 isuzu axiom)

I've recently had this same issue. I spreayed some key lock lubricant (Graphite based) into the key slot several times and it got a little easier but didn't quite solve the problem. I then figured out that if I tilt the steering wheel all the way up the key removes normally. Other than that the dealer wanted to replace the entire ignition lock to the tune of a couple of hundred bucks.
Good luck!!

I have an Isuzu Rodeo and the key is stuck in the ignition any idea how to get it out? Year 2000

replace the whole ignition barrel with new key and get key programmed by dealer
can remove barrel and key by removing steering column covers turn ignition to on position and with small shank screw driver push in hole in outer top rear section of barrel assembly then pull out ignition lock barrel with key in it. fit new lock barrel and key, program new key into system and can get door lock barrels coded to suit new key or get code for old key and cut new key so it fits mechanical locks on the rest of the vehicle (just wont turn in ignition) 2 keys for vehicle.

91 Saab 900 Ignition switch is stuck in lockout can not turn key.

I know this is a common enough problem since one in my family had the same. They had to replace the entire ignition switch.

Try a backup key, if you have one. If not, You can have a copy of yours made which MAY just have sharp enough edges to work again -however unlikely. Sometimes a few drops of oil can loosen a stuck lock too ;/
You can have a locksmith make a custom key for you, or get a new assembly with keys from a salvage yard etc.

1998 Oldsmobile aurora first my key would turn very roughly or hard then the key got stuck my husband got it out and now when we put the key in it wont even turn the ignition. Can anyone help please?

If the duplicate key is still with you, you can give it a try. If it works, cool! Else the entire lock assembly for the ignition will have to be replaced only if your other key works in unlocking the remaining locks of boot, doors, fuel cap, etc. Otherwise the entire SET has to be replaced by a trained technician only...............sodeep

Cae was stolen and recovered. they broke the ignition. how do I replace the steering column Is it necessary to replace the entire column?

Hi,

I am sure this would work by just replacing the ignition switch, not the entire steering column.

However it also depends on how bad was it broken.

Please let us know for future assistance.
Thanks

Key is stuck in ignition in 2007 hyundai sonata

The problem is in the tumbler(s) inside the assembly. Before you do anything, try penetrating oil to see if that works... otherwise, the entire assembly will need to be replaced.
