No engine stated or transmission nor (worse) is it 4wd or 2wd.?
A/T or M/T , 4wd or 2wd, mine are both 4wd and M/T , know well.
Ill give all ways possible. (cert. tech)
you can do anything, there are no limits.
but there are consequences.. lots
context?
im not sure the question, is the one in car dead.?
and you plan on not fixing that? we need these facts.
or you want 2 speedos. one for front seat and 1 for back>?

see cluster page. here. free,
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

STOCK: 1997
the PCM measure speed via the VSS from the tranny and sends MPH
to the I/P cluster brain, (data comms) this brain then sends speed to you at the speedo meter needle (gage). (stock setup)
(bar stool, answer)
Please,
note the VSS sensor can be in 3 places. 2wd, 4wd and on 2 differ.
post car spec, and answers get easier
post photos of trans, better. (left and right side)

transmission type, and even mid year changes on transmissions can
change this.

so your car has no speedometer cable. and
on some early transmissions, you can add one, only getting the full
transmission facts on car (label) could you find this out.

if you remove the VSS, the ECU will go to limhome and never run right again, and 2 times that, if tranny is a Automatic, it shifts using the VSS data !
VSS means vehicle speed sensor.

so tell me , where would you use a cable, there is no cable port.
(look and see, is it missing, yes?)
so scratch mechanical.
is there other ways sure. lots. (no idea of application,.. me.)
Get a GPS speed meter (sold as a guage) stand alone gage.

or load Speedo (app) to any Android phone and Glue CEL to dash)

or pot a Tom Tom Nav on the dash and see it right there.
or you can buy a mag sensor and speedo setup, that fits
to the rear drive shaft that gives you speed, (after calibrating it)
(after market Vss sensor + 4wires + guage ) 1/2 mechanical.

btw , i do have this android app , used for true speed, my large tires
make my speedo in car lie, )

custom parts.

How do i connect a wrangler speedometer to a turbo 350 transmission

Your factory tach won't be accurate because a 350 is an 8 cylinder engine. I put a 350 into a Vega, and my speedo was slightly off because of the differences between the ratios as well. I recommend looking for an aftermarket adapter, or a kit if you can't get the cable to connect into the tranny.

Jeep speedometer cable

Try checking speedometer cable by unhooking both ends and spin it by fingers, if cable is good both ends will spin, and guage could be bad or where it attacheas to transmission that part could be bad to.

My speedometer is not working

most likely this is a problem with the cable that is connected to the transmission to the gauge found in between the firewall and the transmission is a thick cable conduit in which inside houses the speedometer cable. Have it inspected and see if it has become loose or may have broken off. If that is ok, check the part that goes behind the gauge itself. The other end of the cable mentioned earlier should go through the firewall and into the back of the gauge. See if it may have come off.

I have a 1992 jeep wrangler and my promblem is my speedometer isnt working but my tachometer is what should i look for

Your tach still works because it reads engine rpm. The computer uses info from the speedometer but the signals for the tach and speedometer come from different places.
I can't remember if your speedometer is cable driven or electric but the sender is on the drivers side rear of the transfer case output tailshaft housing. If cable driven check that the cable isn't broken inside (I usually put an electric drill on the cable and run the drill to see if the speedometer works (some run backwards) If the drill is able to make the speedometer work check the gear that is inside the transmission by removing the part the cable is attached to. That drives the cable. If electric, check wiring and if OK, replace the sending unit.

My 93 jeep wrangler speedometer stopped working on day it was rainin out and hasnt worked since any idea why and how to fix

Check the connection to the speed sensor gear. It will be a cable plugged into the output shaft on the top of the transfer case (behind the transmission). It is possible that it became disconnected or has a broken wire.

Speedometer stopped working

most likely a broken cable if you slip under the jeep and find where the cable screws into the transmission you can unscrew it and spin it with your finger the speedo should move up if not the cable is broken, replacement can be had at your local dealer
