Ford f150 lariet - 2000 - change back disc brakes and pads. Have tried bleeding system with vehicle running and off. When it was off and started the brakes pedal goes soft and to the floor. Have tried bleeding the master cylindar at the bottom fitting. Then do the brakes. Is there anything else that can be done with abs or hydraulic lines that I am missing?

IF the hand brake activates through the caliper piston unit and it was necessary to screw the piston back in to fit the new pads then you will have to readjust the hand brake .. The may be a bleed nipple on the abs unit . It is not necessary to run the engine to bleed the brakes. IF you used a clamp to push the piston back in then there may be crap in the master cylinder that is affecting the operation of the non-return valve at the outlet of the master-cylinder.

the brake system on these units cant be bled at home if air gets into themaster cylinder and or the (hcu) hydraulic control unit,a special anti-lock brake test adapter has to be pluged into the control module, any atempt to bleed the system with out this tool wiil result in a spongy pedal

SOURCE: 1994 ford explorer will not stop, I have replaced the brake pads,

Before you are replacing the master cylinder make it sure there is no air in the system. Even if you booster is not working the brake should work. After this still not working then replace the Master Cylinder and maybe the booster too.

After you change brake pads on a 2004 F150 and put everything back together do you have to "bleed them" or do you just get in it and go? Or do you have to pump the brakes? Just not sure

As long as you do not open the system to where it can get air into it you should not have to bleed them, but you will want to pump them to get the pads back against the disks before you put the truck into gear or you will be pumping like mad until you do.

I have a F150 p/u 2000 for 10yrs. Each year I change the brake pads. But the rear pads still looks like new. The front pads are worn down. What can be causing the problem?

normally, you replace the rear brake pads every other change in the front brake pads. for your case, it seems that the front brakes are the only ones working.

bleed your brakes to check if rear brakes are still working. after bleeding, check your brake master if it puts pressure equally to the 4 brakes.

Changed both front (rears are drums and did not change) brake calibers and pads on my 1998 F150 pickup 2 wheel drive. In doing so I let the master cylinder go empty. How do I bleed the brakes now. I have...

your probably going to have to bleed the entire system.1st try & bleed the master cyl.
basicly the same as you would bleed the front/rear brakes. pump pedal & hold while someone
loosen the brake line on the master cyl. after m/c is bleed move to r/r,l/r,r/f,l/f wheels in
that order. if you have abs brakes & you got air in the pump a scan tool may be needed
to bleed properly.

Check the brake light switch. Its near the brake padel under the dash. If it back out just a bit the vehicle will think someone is pushing on the brake pedal.

Changed front brake pads. brake pedal goes to floor. no brakes

Something doesn't sound right, you shouldn't have to remove the brake line to install pads. Did you have to do this on both sides? Do the new pads and the old pads look the same? Did you get the caliper on crooked? Just recheck your work first before replacing more parts. When you install the caliper, You have to hook the pad on one side first before you slide it over the rotor.
