I have a 97 Dodge neon. I ran it other day to a friends, went inside to talk for about an hour and when i came back out the car would not start. The starter just makes a clicking sound. I know the starter is fine cause husband also has a 97 neon and we put his in my car and my starter in his car and his starts fine but my car still just has the starter clicking. The crank turns so motor not locked up, battery is at 11.9 on a volt meter with car off(as it wont start). Please help, I hate to throw the car away. Thanks, Neon mom

Thank you. I have to wait to try this, as the car is not at my house had to leave it in town 10 miles away when it died, cops are a little rude and wouldn't let us tow it on a chain behind a semi(with no trailer)..lol.. so I will try tomorrow and let you know...Thanks for the info.
if they alternator is bad wouldnt the battery be low..and why would it not let the car even try to turn over...changed alternators and still doing the clicking noise
Would a bad PCM cause this problem also?
