Engine Oil Sensor

Very likely tell you that you have low engine oil level. I surprised that you didnt kill engine driving like that. If oil level is ok then it may indicate low engine oil pressure. See mechanic.

Symptoms of a bad or failing Engine Oil Pressure Sensor

• Oil Pressure Light comes on, and you check the engine oil level, But oil level is okay, you can blame the false reading on the sensor.
• Oil Pressure Light blinking constantly. This is the normal >check< oil pressure sensor Warning that the sensor is going out.
• If the sensor is giving false readings, Dispite oil level, the sensor could be replaced.

If the Sensor is currently not working, and does not warn you of engine oil level, and oil level gets extremely low, The Engine could burn up/stall due to lack of oil, and may not restart.
Then you could probably blame it on the sensor.
But really would be lack of oil.

Intermittent No Start,
Common causes deal with 3 basic systems/areas of engin

1. Compression, its the build up of air and fuel into the engines cylinders. Then is compressed by the pistons. And is under pressure. FAILURE An Air leak (vacumm leak) will allow pressure to escape.
2. Ignition System, good battery, good relays, wires are not loose or disconnected, good 10volts to starter, 10volts to distributer>gives 20kvolts to spark plugs>has strong spark to ignite compressed air in cylinders. 3. Air/fuel Ratio, Air Intake Manifold, and Fuel Pressure Sensor *Fuel Injection Pressure Sensor---if car is fuel injected*, air filter is clean and intake manifold hose, Throttle Plate Acuater, Idle Air Contro Valve(IAC). Also vacumm leak cause no start. To much air not enough fuel will cause lean fuel mixter==low power, low idle, no start.......To much fuel not enough air will cause rich fuel mixter==too much fuel could cause engine knock, flooding of engine wet spark plugs, No Start

Do not run engine further. The indicator light shows oil pressure but not oil level. You could be out of oil.

Check your oil level immediately--with the engine off, open hood, remove dipstick, wipe it clean. Insert it and extract it again. The oil level.should be between the Fill and Add lines. If it is lower than that, add oil, a quart at a time, until it reaches the proper level.

If the oil level is okay, then the engine needs to be repaired. You could have a broken oil pump, clogged intake screen, or some other internal engine failure. Do not drive the car to a shop. Have it towed.

Mercedes -benz E320 w211 Oil level big red light will not go out.changed the sensor still on. Also had low fuel pressure I don't know why but when I Changed the fuel pressure sensor my oil level red light went out.

engine knocking sound like worn engine bearings or low oil level. if oil level okay more likely oil pump has failed or engine bearings worn out or engine oil diluted with antifreeze or gasoline causing viscosity oil to be too thin.if oil and filter been changed.if you see check engine light flashing code scan for faulty knock sensor. if you see low oil light flashing engine knocking damaged to engine done.

Needs to be checked at the dipstick,
Under the bonnet on the engine!
The warning light, on most vehicles,
Only comes on when the oil is drastically low!!!!

You need to scan it , to find what the code is.
Usually check engine light doesn't have to do anything with oil.

some cars with oil level warning light on, it doesn't mean that its only reading the engine oil level is low, sometime the transmission fuid too. Did you check your transmission fluid if it is ok or not? try to check and let us know, ok.
