Evap systems My '07 hyundai elantra has had the engine light on for a while. I took it to autozone and had them hook it up and it came up with 2 codes that both said "evap", one was something about the hose. Just wondering what kind of repairs I may need and what kind of cost I'm looking at.

In the evap system there are many different parts so in order to try and at least give you an idea, I will need the codes that Autozone pulled. Hyundai's seem to have a number of problems with thier evap systems even to the point of a no start condition after filling the vehicle up with gas. If you have the codes the pulled you can reply/comment back here or feel free to email me directly at [email protected] with all your information. I'll be happy to try and help you diagnose the problem. The most common codes are P0442 or P0456. If you have either one of these codes take a look at your fuel cap to make sure it has a good seal when closed (check the o-ring and such on the cap). Be happy to help just need a little more information (the codes) to help narrow down the problem.

SOURCE: Engine light on-trouble code P0452

EVAP fuel tank pressure sensor low output. It sounds like the charcoal -filled canister, it's near the gas tank in a cylinder shape. The canister may have cracks or a hose is leaking around the area and it will give a fault code of PO452. Are you smelling any odors or emission smell from the car?

SOURCE: The "engine power is reduced" light comes on

po455 is Probable Cause[s]

1. Defective, loose or missing fuel cap
2. EVAP canister broke, hose cracked or not connected
3. Purge or vent solenoid defective
4 . Vacuum leak at engine po121 code po121 means Throttle Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem . it is usually indicative of a faulty throttle position sensor or faulty wiring harness in the engine bay.

I have a liltle light in the panel of my car (Hyundai Elantra 2001) that says check engine and the scan problem is the famous ... P0440 EVAP System please help me i really want to eliminate the error !!!...

tightening your gas cap can sometimes fix this problem. Think if the light came on after buying gas.
If not it's usually the rubber seal around the gas cap. Just measure and replace with a similar rubber seal available at any hardware/auto parts store.

Did you use a aftermarket O2 sensor or a genuine Hyundai one? If it's an aftermarket one it may be bad or not as good as the OEM one. See here for more details and other potential causes: P0133

Check first if the they can do something about the sensor without replacing it but if they need to replace it do so and I can assure you it will work.

Check engine light on after overfill the tank. Check for codes at autozone, Change gas cap. Erase code. Ligth back on. Again to autozone. They say it is the gas cap. I let them know i have just replaced it...

You have a leak in the fuel system somewhere or a bad evaporative system sensor, the way the system works is the control module for the emission system pulls a vacuum on the gas tank and lines to check for leaks, if it can't get a certain vacuum level for a specified time it decides there is a leak and the check engine light comes on. This may be covered under the Federal Emissions warranty, call the dealer and inquire if the Evap System is covered.
