2006 Dodge Neon makes a loud noise when I brake.

It doesn't sound like the wear indicators (squeaky) suggesting I need new brakes but it's almost like a loud "hummmmm" (say it with you mouth open). My brakes seem to work fine and feel as if they still have life in them. That noise only occurs when my car is not warmed up. Once it's driven for a bit there is no noise. I don't get it and I almost took my car in for new brakes but I have a feeling if I needed them or not I would have been ripped off. The noise occurs especially in reverse. Have I ruined my brakes or is my car just rusty or is it something else? ( I live in Hawaii where rust gets the best of cars).

Neons are known to have brake noise esspecially from the rear. Try driving while holding the parking brake up for a while. Dont do it for to long but just enough to clear all the rust out of the drums. I work at a dealer and that has fixed countless noise complaints. However, if its more of a howling noise it make be one of the rear wheel bearings.

05 neon making squealing noise while driving. the noise stops when brakes are pushed

inferior pads or improperly installed. it could be that they just need to conform to the disc and the sound will go away, but you should find out that everything else is ok. if you got one of those brake jobs with a lifetime warranty, then its definitely because of the pad material.

When driving at speed i get a loud whine/shriek from rear driver side wheel, when breaks are applied noise goes. (disc ?) new discs fitted 3 years ago.

the brake pads have a wear indicator as the pads wear the indicator will tuch the brake rotor and make a high pitch shriek, so you need new brake pads.

I have squeaky break on my Honda Odyssey 2007.

Some brake pads have a wear indicator that will start making noises when pads need replacing. Piston may be sticking in cylider and causing pad to rub constantly on disk.

Screeching noise coming from driver side tire

The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.

Sueaky front wheel

It could be a number of things. First check your brakes for any rocks or excessive dirt. Second, check to make sure you are not in need of new brake pads. Brake pads are equipped with a tab that starts making noise when its time to replace your brakes. Third, have the bearing checked. Once the bearing get excessively worn they will start making a squeaky sound. Also have the shocks checked. the bushing worn out in shocks can also cause the noise. The best bet is to have your local mechanic inspect your front end for any wear. Once he does this, he can compile a list of parts that need replaced. Then you can replace or fix it yourself.

Brakes make squeaky noises along with other noises

There are a numer of reasons brakes will squeak or squeal. Sometimes excessive dust acculation wll cause it, yet another cause is the TYPE of material the brake shoes are made of. The harder the brake shoe material , the more tendency to squeak / squeal. My suggestion is use high quality brakes such as OE brakes. Hope this helps.

A metallic squeaking sound from the front driver side wheel well

On your brake pads there is a wear indicator tab. This is a metal tab that protrudes just past where the brake lining almost ends. It is there as an indicator that your brake pads are nearing the end of their life cycle and it is time to change them.
