My prius ran fine right up till the last time I drove it and parked it in my driveway. that was 30 minutes ago. The car was still off as I was sitting in the backseat waiting for someone when I wanted to roll down the window. From the backseat I pushed the power button once, without pressing the brake and the power windows operated fine BUT NOW the car will not start. It seems like an alternate power continues to run. I can hear a soft whir under the front of the hood although the car is not on and the power window still operate. The only warning light that is on is the check engine light and the parking light is blinking. I can tell I am draining the battery.

I have that problem too, there is a little square cap on the shift consloe, its about 1/2 inch square if you pry that cap off with a screwdriver ..there is a small white button in the hole. That button is an emergency manual release for the shifter. If you push in and hold that button down you can manually get the shifter out of park.

the fuse box should be under the dash on the drivers side and the label may just say "tail" for the rear tail lights if you don't see it there look under the hood in the fuse box there for the same label

My Toyota Prius hybrid warning light has come on three times in eight years. If I turn the car off for 20 minutes, the hybrid light is off but the check engine light is on. After a while, the check engine light goes off. I think this problem is related to moisture somehow entering the hybrid vent on the driver's side. All three times this has happened, the weather was wet. Kevin Cardiff
