I had my 2003 BMW M3 in for it's annual oil change and they didn't reset my oil change maintanence light. It is still showing 3700 miles before next oil change and I just got it done.

1. Key in 0 or off position.

2. Press and hold odometer button and turn key to 1 or acc. position... like you're turning the car on, but don't crank the engine.

3. Keep button pressed until any of the following words appear in display: "oil service" or "inspection", with "reset" or "re". For vehicles with "high cluster", the fuel amount (in litres) remaining until next service is displayed (i.e. 3224).

4. Press and hold button again until "reset" or "re" flash.

5. While display is flashing, press button briefly to reset service interval indicator. After display has shown new interval, the following will appear in display for approx. 2 seconds:"END SIA"

Do i have to reset the computer after oil change on my bmw 2006 325i

You don't "have to" reset the status but it does help to keep track of oil life.
Turn the car on. Wait about a minute for the computer to get to normal.
press and hold the travel mile reset button. HOld it untill an ! in a triangle appears. then your maintanance info will pop up. select the item to reset. and tap the side button on the wand atached to the stearing wheel. this button is what you use to browse through your computer. press the button once it will say "reset" press and hold it the second time and it will say reset, hold for 5 seconds or so and it will show a check mark next to
"reset" confirming it has reset.

Does anyone know of a great place where I can get an oil change for my brand new BMW M3 Sedan?

if i had new bmw i would let only the bmw dealership change oil and service the car period, bmw is a very expensive car every body cant work on them.let dealership do the oil change they the only ones can reset your oil service light, its not easy to reset if you dont know how. most of the time if you have new vechicle the place where you bought the car will cut you a oil change deal.

Oli indicator mileage reset

This is showing that your overdue for a sevice by 8,769. Depending on which service it will either say oil or inspection. With bmw's the order is of service is oil service .. inspection 1 ... oil service .... inspection 2. etc etc.

To reset the light the only tool you need is your finger. On some e46's there are 2 instrument cluster buttons (little rubber poles sticking out). If you press the left one with the ignition off you'll notice your mileage come up on the dash. This is the button you need to reset the service indicator.

With everything off, press and hold the same button and at the same time turn on the ignition to position 2 and wait a few seconds. It will then show the service and overdue mileage.Let go of the button and press and hold again until the 'reset' light flashes. Let go again and then hit the button once. Viola! The same can be done for resetting brake fluid light (clock symbol next to mileage) Instead of pressing and holding for the second time just press the button once to follow into a different menu for and the clock symbol will appear to be reset.

End of essay!

Yellow oil light comes on at start up

The above "Guru has no idea what he is talking about. The yellow oil light means you need a new oil level sensor, if your oil is indeed full. Its located in the oil pan and costs around $100. Oh, and oil changed are around 15,000 miles, not 6000 miles. When the BMW is due for an oil change or inspection, the display says so. The yellow light is low oil. Please avoid giving advice when you don't know what you're talking about.
