Engine light will come on every once in a while, went to get required smog performed today and everything passed except the light came on causing it to immediately fail, even though my emissions are all perfect. Just the light itself is an automatic fail. The scanner says it is due to failure code p2181.. possible solutions?

First the fault codes,
U110C is No Fuel Level Bus Message
U0155 is No Cluster Bus Message.
Unfortunatly you have to be able to communicate with the instrument cluster with your scanner to diagnoise and I do not think an aftermarket scanner can do this.

vacuum leak in the evaporative emission system hard one to solve without the vehicle but could be as easy as a loose or faulty fuel cap just think the fuel tank breaths as well

well I am gonna tell you what I did once for same thing
Just unplug battery for more than 10 minutes, plug it back and it is very possible that the light it is not gonna show up for a while! goo luck! hope this helps

YOU NEED TO HAVE VECHICLE CODE SCAN FOR FREE AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE THEY WILL GIVE YOU THE CODE THAT CAUSING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO FLASH.ITS MORE LIKELY EVAP LEAK THAT WILL CAUSE YOU TO FAIL SMOG TEST.
