About a month ago I left work did not make it out of the parking spot and my car spitter and sputtered and just died on me I started it only with a little bit of trouble. for about two months my automatic mercedes 1993 190E will rev up when you press the peddle it will move but not very fast and it sounds like it needs to go up a gear but it wont. A minute will pass and it will kick into gear the reving noise will stop and the car will jump forward. This is when I think it kicks into a higher gear.
finally::::: when I left for work today I got a mile down the road and I was going about 50 when it started slowing down to 40 even though I was accelerating it did the reving thing and would not accelerate past 40 then dropped to 30 25 20 then under 8MPH but would rev sounded like a stick shift that was in 1st gear and needed to be shifted into 2nd. It spittered and sputtered a little I turned around and managed to make it back to my house. the closer I got to my house it got a little better but im afraid to drive anywhere so what do I do ? what is the problem? water in my fuel line? transmission going up? cracked distriputer cap? HELP im a girl and dont know to much about cars!!!!!!
Hello,have you a regular maintenance service to your car?better to check your fuel filter for contamination,transmission filter or your brake system maybe stuck-up piston caliper,ty
