2006 Impala message "Hot Engine A/C Off"

Today my 2006 Impala says on the message center "Hot Engine A/C Off". What does that mean? I am not under warranty (47,000 miles on odometer) and I only have 3 months left on my lease and hate to spend a penny on this car that has only been headaches.

my car did the same thing and I end up having to get a new engine.

I think that this is a matter of a bad sensor, as my car says the same thing, even when you first start the car, when it couldn't possibly be hot.  You don't necessarily need a new thermostat, it may be a temperatue sensor.  I think that I will take it in to GM, and see what they say it needs.  Good Luck!

It means you need to turn off you aircondition coz the engine has high temperature. but if your not using aircon you have a defective thermostat replace it at once.

2006 Chevrolet impala I replaced thermostat and still wont heat! so disapointed. will neve purchase another and will discourage others from buying. any suggestions

I hope you have had more problems than just this before you dismiss a car brand.
Do you know if the engine is heating up ? Is the cooling system full of coolant ? Are the heater hoses getting hot ?
If the system is heating up the problem could be a faulty blend door under the dash.

2006 impala indicater says engine hot A/C off whats wrong and how to fix

Mine did the same thing. The thermostat was stuck open. Replace thermostat, the problem went away. If stuck open, it doesn't get to operating temperature when cold and indicates the engine is too hot when it's warm outside.

What does engine hot/a/c off means.

it means exactly what it says the AC has been turned off due to the fact the computer has sensed the engine is overheating.
