the only oil amount you can check is remove a/c compressor place it upside down(or drain plug) oil will drain in mesure cup if you find less than 1 ounce then pour 2 ounces in compressor there is around 8 ounces in system 2 ounces compressor 1ounce evaporator 1 ounce condenser 1 ounce dryer 3 ounces for tube and the rest
unless you are changing a new compressor you should not have to add any oil in there. Do not put oil since the compressor already has enough oil in it. If you put oil in there and it already has oil, the AC system will not function properly because it has too much oil. How much oil to put in there is determined how much is already in there.
May just need to be recharged, if r34 is too low, ac will not kick in, Wal-mart sells recharge kits and cans of r34 (insctructions are on kit)...expect to pay around $50 total if you do it yourself. If that doesn't work you may have to replace the AC compressor.
