This morning my car would not turn on. My neighbor gave me a jump and its drives fine now. But should I get a new battery?

If this is the first time it has been jumped - you will be fine.
Was it just DEAD or did u leave an accessory on for it to drain?
If you couldnt find evidence of a light on, or some other drain - there is a different problem you need to address.

When you cut the car off, if you can't start it back up, then yes, it needs a new battery. If the battery light is on while driving, then you may need a new alternator.

Well, as long as there are no lights on the dash lit up, I would suggest changing the battery.....

Most shops can test your battery too before you go and buy a new one. Have them test it first.

Battery is new, engine won't turn over.

The voltmeter should only go as high as 14-15 volts when the engine is running. I would check for a poor connection between the battery and starter.

Check the battery first, if it is ok you probably have a bad starter. If the battery is drained, you need to charge and test the battery and alternator.

When I went to get into my 2004 Toyota Corolla yesterday afternoon, I could not get the FOB to work. Manually got into car but engine wouldn't turn over. Had car jumped and it ran fine. Car and FOB both...

it sounds to me like the only problem you had was the cars battery went low which also manages the power for your FOB to work.if your car has no power then the FOB will not work either.the car has to have power for everything to work like it should.i believe that your problem is fixed by you replacing your car battery.you shouldn't have any more trouble with it.hope this info helps.good luck and take care, manny

Mine did the EXACT same thing! After a lot of googling, I found that you need to put the key in and turn it to the 'ON' position and leave it there for about 10 minutes. The security light will eventually stop flashing and your car will be fine to start. CRAZY, I know! But it works! Thankfully Google saved me from spending MUCHO $$$ for parts I didn't need in the first place!

Alarm system not working

A friend of ours did some research and discovered it was the ECU (fuse?) that needed to be reset. We removed the ECU (which controls the cruise control, and "learns" the driving patterns of the driver and adjusts the fuel economy) and the car is running fine. To reset the ECU you need to remove the negative cable from the battery, turn the car to "A/C On" (don't crank the engine) for 10 seconds, then shut it off. Replace the negative battery cable. This should reset the ECU. The car does run much better with the new battery. The previous battery was the original and was approximately 6 1/2 years old so it needed to replaced anyway.
