SOURCE: lifter noise

If the engine runs good and has high mileage, it might be the timing chain guides that are worn out

SOURCE: like 3 days after i got my oil changed in my 2006

This is an idication of a severe oil leak. Check the oil level in your engine to see if there is any in it. Add to the full mark and return to the oil change shop and ask them to see where the leak is. Do not operate without oil. Severe engine damage will occur. Hope this helps Moe

SOURCE: Idiot light and buzzer for oil coming on at low

It might be the sender unit or you are using an oil grade that is too thin and the oil pressure is down a bit. However, the oil pressure switch is located on the engine block above the sump level and looks a bit like a small spark plug with black insulation. It has one wire coming from it with a press on connector. Replace it and if you have the same problem the next in line would be:-
Oil change and filter (20W-50)
Leaking oil pressure relief valve
Worn oil pump
Worn valve train components
Worn bearings

SOURCE: 2004 Passat stop engine low

You have low oil pressure ! Do not drive ! Sounds like the engine main bearings and or cam bearing in worn causing low oil pressure ! Make sure your oil is in good condition ! If so then unfortunately your engine is worn and will probably require replacement !

SOURCE: 1995 Ford Windstar Engine Knocking

No if the oil light has flickered you have oil pressure loss some time just belive the sensor do help us out. lifter do not cause oil pressure loss pressure is built in the rotation of the crankshaft. The knock under the plenum will point you to that cylinder that is affected, (main bearing) as for a 1995 the injectors can only cause a misfire but no knocking noise, will they honor the warranty

What does low oil pressure on 2008 Chevy Impala 3.5 V6 LS

Do you mean what causes low oil pressure? This is a very reliable engine for the most part. If the oil light is on or gauge is reading low, have the oil pressure sensor inspected for failure. These sensors do go bad.

Why won't my car start?

Sounds like your oil pump may have seized. You'll need a gauge to verify this. The engine has a mechanism by which it automatically cut the engine off if there's a sudden drop in pressure. I would replace the pump. If you do make sure you prime it prior to tightening the oil pan down. A big question is why you were that low on oil. Good luck!

My 2002 chevy impala's "low engine oil" light was flashing red and making a ringing sound. I checked the oil level and it needed to have a quart added, but it still had some oil on the dipstick. I added...

Yes it is safe to drive it now. But i would recheck your oil level before you drive it. As long as the oil level is where it is supposed to be, then you will be fine.

My 2006 impala had low oil level so i added a little too much. Now low oil pressure shut off engine light comes on. what is causing this? is it the oil pump?

Not Likely. You need to have an oil pressure test performed. If the pressure is low than running the engine low on oil has caused excessive main and rod bearing clearances. having the engine rebuilt is expensive. Either install a known good, used engine or get a re-manufactured engine w/ a good warranty. The best reman is made by Jasper Engines and Transmissions and come w/ a 3 year 100,000 mile warranty.

I have a 2000 chevy impala with the 3400sfi engine over heating problem

Not nesesarily you need a co2 leak detection done or a cylinder leakage test. my prefered method is a cylinder leakage test. I gave someone on this site a couple of links i'll get them for you now.

After driving my car 2006 chevy impala for about 20 miles the dashboard warning light oil pressure low stop engine and the oil warning light appears, but if step on break or slow down it goes out..wha

Verify that the engine has the proper amount of oil. The inertia from accelerating may be moving the oil in the oil pan away from the sensor and causing it to send a signal, then when you slow the oil levels out and the sensor go's off. I've had this happen alot with a taurus that I owned. The simple solution was to top off the oil to the correct level and the sensor did not come on again (until it ran low again, had a leaky oil plug on oil pan).

We just purchased a 2003 Impala and have only driven approimately 400 miles. It had 91890 miles at purchase. We now have 92200 miles and the check engine light came on. We checked the coolant and level...

Did you smell the oil? Make sure it does not smell like anti freeze. Also check under the car for leaks. Check floor mat could be heater core. Also check the hose that goes from the resivoir to the radiator. Have the code read at an autoparts store it is probably emission related

Have a low oil pressure light come on but its not on all the time

check the pressure with a oil pressure special test gauge, most likely it will be ok, then replace the oil pressure sending unit.
