Sounds like either a bad plug wire, or coil pack. This is about all that would cause the misfire.

What is the code p0301 on a ford 150 2002 5.4 engine mean

Miss-fire on cylinder number 1. The picture shows location of cylinder number 1. Check for spark at number 1 cylinder. There are ignition based misfires--fuel based misfires--emission based misfires, I'm sure I'm leaving something out. You need to be aware the computer may disable the fuel injector if misfire detected on that cylinder, that's normal. Trying to protect the cat. If fuel injector is disabled have to decide if normal operation or something wrong with fuel injector or wiring circuit.

2004 ford explorer sport tracs cylinder 1 misfire

The coil-on-plug. These are common to fail. #1 is easy to get to, all you need is a 7mm socket, an extension, and a ratchet. P0301 tells you that cyl.#1 is not firing everytime it is asked to, P0316 means that during the first 1000 revolutions when you start your truck, there was a misfire. To be sure about the coil, swap the coils with the one next to #1. Clear the codes and wait for the codes to return. If the code P030_ shows up, (P0302 if you swapped it with #2, P0303 for #3, for example) Then remove that coil and get you another!

I have a 97 Ford Explorer AWD 8 cylinder. Check engine light comes on and I get code p303. Vehicle bucks at times, uses lots of gas. Believe it may be 02 censor, spark plugs and wires tested ok. Any Idea

code says #3 cylinder misfire, check the coil pack for this cylinder to see if its got spark, bad o2 sensor will spit another code, its most likely the coil

Engine misfires on #1 cyl. Code P0301. plug, fuel

Then the coil is bad. Even if the specs were ok, which they r not, the cracked case means its junk.

P0301

Check obvious first, starting at plug wire, to make sure it's getting spark to plug, then pull plug to see how/if, it appears to be firing. No spark to wire, check coil. If spark is good to plug, and plug firing, time to check if fuel getting there, and if no, could be caused by faulty oxygen sensor, bad injector, just as starters.

2001 Cougar getting a P0301 & P0303 error...could this be a leaky intake manifold? Already replaced the plugs & wires. It has 114,000 miles

those codes are for a misfire if you've already replaced the plugs and wires and it still throws the same codes check the coil for those 2 cylinders and make sure it's firing if it is check to make sure the fuel injectors are firing on those 2 cylinders a leaking intake wouldn't cause the misfire codes it would throw like a po171 and or a po174 normally

2001 ford taurus p0301 and p0303

You are mis fireing on cyl 1 and 3 if you replaced plugs and wires and coil this is going to be a fuel injector issue or valve issue. See if you can swap the injectors with known good cyl. and see if it changes. Or have a shop do a fuel injector service on it to see if it helps. It may be to late for the fuel injector service.
