you can hit sides of brake drum too.

Also, there are 2 metric threaded holes in the face of the drum. You can tighten bolts in them to apply pulling pressure while you are hitting the sides of the drum to pop i off. Heat center of drum at axle flange with torch if needed.

How do I change the brake bulbs on 99 Nissan Quest

The whole assembly will pop out with a screwdriver (carefully). Then the bulbs can be reached. Just push the whole thing back into the slots when you are done.

Very poor brake performance after changing rear shoes

It sounds like your self-adjusters are not assembled correctly allowing them to back off when braking.

Ask your mechanic to back off on the adjustment ( way too tight ). Or maybe, did you accidently leave the parking brake on? ( happens to the best of us!!! ). Good luck and God bless.
